Sold!
Two Bicentennial-era Franklin Mint solid sterling silver 8" commemorative plates
"Adams Champions the Cause of Freedom" and "Rodney Decides the Vote on Independence"
Each of these two pieces comes in their own display case with blue velvet lining.
Each piece weighs approximately 7.5 troy ounces and both are marked "Solid Sterling Silver", both indicate they're inlaid with 24k gold. Both are serial number #2519.
Total approximate combined weight 15 troy ounces. $20 bill shown for scale only.
The boxes are beautiful but need a good airing out (little musty smell). The plates look like they've been wiped in the past--but that may well be how they were made.
**These are really bold, impressive pieces suitable for display. **
Asking just about melt value at $209 for both pieces combined, plus $8 shipping (big boxes).
NOW JUST $199 plus shipping!! That's BELOW MELT!!

Having worked at the Franklin Mint 35 years ago, the nostalgia has me becoming interested in many of their pieces lately; particularly with Gilroy Roberts.
These plates are beautiful and garish at the same time.
I'll take them.

Wait, THIS is garish. Please remember that the Franklin Mint treated everything with equal disrespect.
