Hi! I'm new. Question about 1979 penny, die break or?

Like I said I'm new here. And this probably won't be my last post. So I found this 1979 penny, and it struck me because it looks to be in great condition - but then I noticed something that looks like a die break? I'm not sure, would just like any input. Thank you!

So this coin appears to have been coated or replated with a substance. If this is so, then you gots a cent, barely. Peace Roy

I'm not even sure that coin is real. If it is. It is heavily damaged. The "break" shows distortion obverse and reverse, almost certainly guaranteeing that it is just damage.

  • It doesn't feel like some other 79 pennies I have. Its light. Those bubbles looked strange, in the w and head - that's what made me think not pmd.

Why would someone recoat 1 cent? I'm curious, doesn't seem like it would be worth the time/$?

Maybe someone replaced a fuse with that
Whatever it is, that is THE least collectible looking cent I've seen posted on the boards
    Happy hunting and posting.

The coin has been damaged and then plated.
    Or plated and then damaged.
Either way, it is damage/alteration after the coin has been struck (PMD) = Post-Mint Damage.
