I do understand the stamp hike though. you can mail a letter from new york to california, it will get there in just a few days for $.50. that is insanely cheap. try doing the same thing through fedex or ups. It will be much much more costly. also, try mailing the same letter in Europe, multiples the cost of here in the states. I dont like it, but i understand
If raising the cost of postage would solve the problems at the USPS, those problems would have been solved long ago based on the increasingly more common price hikes seen over the last decade
No one is mailing letters anymore. The USPS is a package courier now for the most part.

well, the usps says there were 18.5 billion letters mailed in 2017. someone is mailing letters.
