My daughter is spending the next 5 weeks in Niger digging up dinosaurs and some really old people. Post something from Niger if you have it, or some NCLT dinosaur coins, for that matter.

I give away money. I collect money.
I don’t love money . I do love the Lord God.
No coin to post, but some years ago I was there on a bright spring morning, April 1 no less, and it was a balmy 120 DEGREES F.! Hope she has a water supply...
Well, just Love coins, period.
Yeah, I figured not many people are going to have CFA Franc registry sets, much less coins that are actually issued by Niger (other than Roman emperor Pescennius Niger, perhaps).
Their team has a water tanker truck with them, from what I understand. They're spending a few days in town getting gear, supplies, and security forces before heading out into the field. This is getting into the "cool" season. High just above 100, lows in the 70s at night.

I'm pretty sure I had some Western CFA coins until recently, but for now this is all I have.

Field clothes have actually been pre-soaked in bug spray, I think.

Not sure that'll keep these things away, although I guess they eat the scorpions.

@bidask I'll see your Niger lion and call with a Sierra Leone.
Ha, I did finally find some! Not that they are in great shape. Hope the trip went well and she brought some numismatic souvenirs for you.

Cool (not weather wise) - sounds like fun.
I miss my archaeology days excavating in Europe and the Middle East
Hi messydesk, I have one: Lion 10 francs 1967, silver .900, diameter 36 mm, weight 20 g.
All are from the 8-country group which shared the CFA Franc, which includes Niger. I believe there is a way to tell various member countries' coins apart in another such grouping, but is there a way to identify individual countries within this one? In any event, attached is my group pic from my expanded "1-per-country" collection. Sorry for the size/clarity, but I have a cheap phone/camera........ maybe anyone interested can enlarge & view more easily once they access it....
