It is Saturday. 12:0 where I live. Sunny and hot.
If I lived closer, I'd be going into work to play with your coins (they are "mine" until they are graded ) but it is a 140-mile round trip. So in a few minutes, I'm going for a haircut, visiting the car dealership for an oil change, mailbox, and Walmart. What's on your to-do list?
Hopefully, in a few hours, some on-topic and interesting discussions will pop up. I have lot's of things to post but my images are at work.

Getting my hoop nets and kayak ready for opening night lobster season.
Sipping my coffee while waiting for the sun to peak over Haleakala ... then Beach time
Oh....one of our GFs is broken hearted (not from 69 Pall) .... we think we'll dip her in the ocean for a chill effect.
My twins turned 25 yesterday. I'm lucky enough to be able to spend this evening with one of them at one of our favorite establishments enjoying some wings, garlic Parmesan coated fries and watching some college football. The other one will be there will us in spirit, but will not be able to attend. Hoping that my wife's migraine will subside in the next few hours.
6:48am .... long shadow looking South as well as North
May go out and swing the coil if it ever stops pouring rain.
There is a bit of driving involved later today, but I should be at a Gordon Lightfoot concert this evening.
Be careful out there as we had a Great White Shark Attack a teen today in San Diego (Encinitas).

Local coin show (Grapevine TX), some lighting shopping with my wife, lunch out, etc. Was supposed to be at my son's baseball game but it is rained out
Oh...mentioning the coin show makes this thread coin related!

I think I'll go out and find some cherry's today, Let's see what I can find I have the day off today. That would be cool to bug hunt maybe some day I'll go out and try.
Hoard the keys.
Hope it's better than the one I caught last year. It was his last stop on a multicity tour. His voice was awful; raw, scratchy and cracking. It's an awesome instrument when it's healthy. But I did get to see my favorite bass player of all time (Rick Haynes) and they did many of the classic Lightfoot numbers. I was glad I went despite the disappointment, He has been my favorite musical artist since Early Morning Rain in 1966.

I'm going to a money show today one way or the other.
I was thinking of going to the coin show in Grapevine (150 miles) but I'm hearing the Casinos in Shreveport (200 miles) "calling me". If I go to the Grapevine coin show, I could be sure I'd come back with a few dollars (Morgans) Going to Shreveport is more of a crap shoot. (pun intended) But hopefully I'll pick-up a lot of paper money (Benjamin's) if I go there.
Did he play Sundown?

Wow, every single year people die on lobster opener almost always to drowning. Today it was a GWS. I hope he makes it.
@ms71 Over the course of 35+ years, this is the fifth time that I will have seen Gordon Lightfoot. I know his story, know about what to expect. He is now just shy of eighty years old!
The wife made the suggestion that we go. We saw Gordon Lightfoot on our fourth or fifth date back in 1995! I got the tickets within ten minutes of her suggestion. I only look stupid!
But I will be happy to go too.
Wow hope he is okay.
Hoard the keys.
Just got through with our 9 yr old's birthday party at the aquatic center. oy vey!
Back to coins when I get back from.....

Took my son (11) on his first deer hunt this morning. Saw 4 does and 2 raccoons. Going out again this evening. Some coin time and house work in between. Church and the same plan tomorrow if we don't tag out tonight!
Torn between the Calif. Int'l Air Show (with the Thunderbirds), 10 miles away, or watching historic Porsche race cars at Laguna Seca (Rennsport Reunion VI), 5 miles away.

Dang, now I have to go halibut fishing first, should be a super fun day
I guess no time for coins today.
He has sounded like that for several years. Lots of hard living. That isn't a glass of water he has with him on stage. I live him too, and I'm surprised he still tours.
I went to a G. Lightfoot concert long ago at the Hollywood Bowl. It turned out to be perhaps the most significant event in my life. My companion was a young lady that I had been mixed-up with for too, too long. I liked the concert. She didn't and she griped and complained about it all all the way home. She was that type of a gal. She complained so much that I dumped her off at her house instead of taking her home with me, if you know what I mean. Anyway, it turned out to be our last date. And it worked out really good to be alone that night. BECAUSE......on the very next morning, bright and early, who should show up on my doorstep but my little cousin Larkin and her awesome, beautiful, fun, and fabulously wonderful friend. I never saw her before. They wanted to go up to the mountains and throw snowballs. So off we went.
What are we doing today? Right now Mrs. Hydrant is in her sewing room with little girl Hydrants #1, #2, #3, and #10. They're making princess dresses for Halloween. Little boy Hydrants #4, #6, and #9 are down at the pond hunting lizards and playing on the old 1938 Caterpillar grove tractor. It's a PIRATE SHIP. Later on today little Hydrants #5, #7, and #8 are expected to to roll in from Idaho. That's when the party will really get going. Going to be a busy day.
Oh yea. Who was my little cousin Larkin's awesome, beautiful, fun, and fabulously wonderful friend? Why, the future Mrs. Hydrant. Who else.
Wow....10 little Hydrants! Is Mrs. Hydrant your avatar?
I'm sitting at work for another 4.5 hours. My new Ikea lights came in yesterday though and I've got some diffusers for them, so I'm going to bring home a camera and macro bellows rig and hopefully tomorrow I'll be able to start playing with some coin photography!

After enjoying some good college football - not the money-based NFL product - I'll return to the ranch and finish milking the aardvarks so the next shipment is ready to go out Monday morning. Then I'll complete packing for a trip to the archives next week, and also review resumes from vaqueros who will need to be hired for the fall emu roundup. Really good vaqueros are tough to find, especially ones with experience shearing emus and branding yearlings for release on the winter range.
(I had been renting out the aardvarks to N and S Carolina for eating the local fire ants, but then the aardvark milk is soured by the nasty ants and so I gave up on that venture.)
Coffee, breakfast, watch boxing that I recorded last night. get cash from machine, car wash, fill gas tank, grandsons soccer game, paid for Mercury dime I made an offer on now on computer.

Well, my best friend and I took a couple of young bird dogs and went hunting. It was a little too hot, but otherwise a wonderful day in the high desert. Saw dozens of birds. Looks like it will be partridge McNuggets at our house tomorrow.
Training dogs is a blast. When they finally "get it" there's nothing more fun to watch in the entire world.
I'm making fishing poles now. The little Hydrants are bringing me the sticks. Then a little string, a paper clip hook, and Kraft cheese for bait. There's no fish in that mud hole but don't tell them. A lot of muddy little feet. And faces. And happy kids. The barbeque is heating up! The brew and soda are on ice. Oh, BABY!
I just wanted to double check if you were serious about the aardvark milk and rental?
Is this a thing people do?
It almost sounds the the beginning narrative of an unconventional film.

Interesting thread. Since you asked, I just got back from flying a rescue mission for 12 homeless cats impacted by Hurricane Florence. Flew them from Richmond, VA to Lawrence, MA.

JUST flew in late this morning from Osaka after spending 2 weeks with my daughters in Japan. It was a LOT of fun, but I'm a burnt cookie right now. Here's your's truly in a Ryokan (Japanese Inn) with other people from our group. I'm in front of the doorway, and the two women in the back right corner are my daughters...

This is a good and timely thread. There was another thread recently centered around, " What do you do to make a living." Or something like that. Both were started by Insider2. I want to say, "Thank you Insider2." There has been a drop off in participation around here lately. There are several reasons in my opinion,.....trolls, too much emphasis on "Ultra high end collections" etc. So, let's DO get to know each other a little better and also be welcoming to new comers. Insider2 is on to something here. Thanks, Insider2. You're a guy that cares!
Going to hit the river or dam tonight. Drum or cat fishing. Maybe both
Spent about ten minutes rubbing my wife's shoulders. When I tried to stop she told me it felt good; so I said she felt good.
,
After that , she gave me another ten minutes.
Otherwise , I would have been here playing "guess the year of this silver Eagle ", twenty minutes sooner.
Getting to know me... one of my peculiar activities includes photos of numerically pleasing odometer readings that I take when I safely can do so. No reason for this that I can ascertain. I waited years to get 161803, but missed it.

Just her SHOULDERS? Get into it man. When she says STOP it most likely means GO, GO, GO. We're all not THAT much too old around here. Are we? I say, "Go for it brother!" If you take my advise a gourmet dinner with wine awaits you. And then after that. .....Who knows?
I'm here in a retail cellphone shop most Saturdays and today's slow traffic is not unusual since the Huskers are playing. There is usually something interesting here to see or read, so I check in throughout the workday when I get a chance. I also want to know Roger where you market your --------aardvark---- milk. I haven't seen it at Walmart. Edited to change armadillo to aardvark, I always get those mixed up.
Been watching college football all day but also plotting my trip to the North Carolina show next weekend.
I spent some time working on an article about how the Baldwin Horseman $10 started out as a Kohler & Company $10, then spent 3 hours on the phone with a friend figuring out minutiae about Fugio die production. I really need to get a life.

Show us your car! Don't be shy, PCA guys like Ferrari's too.
RENNSPORT REUNION HANDS DOWN! I've been to every one on the East coast but you CA guys will probably have all the rest. Anyway, you'll probably see and hear the planes from the track.
@Hydrant It is amazing that you can still afford coins!
I enjoyed the responses. Compared to you guys, I ain't got no life!
