Doesn't seem right

I bought a very rare card from 4SC website for $950.

Invoice Date: Thursday, September 20, 2018 (from 4SC website)

This card is very rare and in PSA 10. I particularly bought it because it was a Pop 1. I added it to my set in the registry and it showed it as a pop 1. How is it that 1 day after I purchased it (yesterday) that 4SC has the same card listed as a pop 2? That means they got it graded and returned back to them and list all in 1 day. Would not have paid that for a pop 2. What is going on here?

If you added it to your set and it was a Pop 1 according to PSA's registry platform than it was a Pop 1 that became a Pop 2. I have seen 4SC have cards graded and listed within days on EBAY. Perhaps they have an office in CA where they pick them up directly from PSA or get them overnighted on a consistent basis and load them to their site immediately.

When something pops it doesn't hit the pop report until the next day so if it popped early and was shipped overnight this scenario is very possible.

    Bummer.

Depending on when the card was listed by 4SC it may have been on the website for a while.

They do not change pop numbers once listed.

    since then another poped

Wow, I would've been bummed, too. Sorry to hear this. What's the card in question if you don't mind me asking?

The only explanation that makes sense is that they had both cards and they were split over a couple of submissions that happened to pop within one day of each other. I can’t think of any other scenario that would explain it. Are they both new grades per the cert numbers?

Was this a modern card, like an insert that could be ripped today?

    Hiya Mike

Don't think I've seen you around in a bit?

Sorry this occurred - I'd be bummed also.

    Just curious on the effect?

What is 4SC asking for the 2nd POP2 card?

They've got a few mislabled as Pop1 now. Here's a pop 5 example listed as pop 1. Maybe it was a pop1 when listed and hasn't sold since others have hit the pop report.

This is the card I bought on 9/20.

    2496846 - 1971 FLEER WORLD SERIES #74 1976 REDS-YANKS BLACK BACK POP 1 PSA 10 B2496846-604 $953.91

I understand that in 4SC's description the pop amount can change and may not be accurate but when I bought it PSA also said it was a pop 1. How could 4SC list the same card on 9/21 as a pop 2? They listed the second one for the same price. They would have had to have the card graded the same day I bought the first one because the pop amount does not update until the next day. PSA would have had to over-night the card. Why would they do this? It is not a 1952 Mantle. Then would have had to list it within hours of receiving it. Doesn't seem likely. Powerball has better odds.

I don’t understand what you mean. If they had submitted the second card earlier and it just happened to pop the day after you bought yours wouldn’t that still fit the facts?

And it’s not that unusual that they list things right after receiving them. They had Ben’s entire 1972 set up the day after he sold it to them.

The first card was graded a few years ago. The strange part is that the second one is not a brand new cert number either, it starts with 28. Could it be that they had it reviewed to a 10?

It just happened to pop the next day, got it back from California to Massachusetts and listed it all within 24 hours. That is some coincidence.

Paypal shows I bought the card at 11:51 PDT on Sept 20. At that time it was showing as a pop 1 on PSA when I added it to my set. If the second card happened to be graded that day then it would show in the pop report the next day. I understand that. What I am not really understanding is how that card could already be back at 4SC and listed on ebay at 7:28 which I guess is Pacific Time so 10:28 Eastern on Sept 21. That would mean graded, shipped cross country and listed on ebay in less than 24 hours. Really?

Does seem strange. Particularly since the second card doesn’t seem to be a new grade.

judging from this completed sale of a PSA 5, the certs are almost identical to the one that's on their website currently. they were subbed together, likely by 4SC. I do agree its weird though. these 285XXXXX certs were from last June/July I think, so its not like the grades just popped the other day. Are you saying the PSA app said the pop report was 1 or 4SC website did?

When I added the card to my set, PSA had the card as a pop 1. I also have the Clemente PSA 10 pop 1 so I wanted this one too.
