1892 Columbian Half Dollar PCGS MS64/CAC & Other Superb Coins For Sale
Howdy Folks. I currently have two dozen or so choice coins for sale on my website. Included in these is a wonderful 1892 Columbian half dollar. Please find an image below followed by the description-
The Columbian Exposition half dollar was the first true commemorative half dollar issued by the United States Mint. It was issued in very large quantities in both 1892 and 1893 and is relatively easily found in gem or near-gem condition. The present coin was purchased by me in September, 1998 and immediately sent off to PCGS. I bought the coin raw as an MS65 and expected it to come back in the familiar green label holder as an MS65; one might imagine my surprise when the package was opened to find the coin graded MS64 and in a holder with some newfangled blue insert! It was the first blue insert PCGS holder I had ever seen and, as such, I never offered it for sale...until now. This coin is well struck for the issue, has frosty white luster and simply gorgeous deep blue and auburn toning in a ring on the reverse. I have it priced a little above MS65 money, but I still believe it is an MS65 and that it has superb eye appeal. $450.00
