question for you chipper jones collectors

i reviewed the pop report and based on that, the prices for the rookies cost makes ZERO sense to me. there are 1600 bowman 10's that sell for about $60. There are 21 tomorrow's heros that sell for about $75. HUH? There are less tomorrow hero's than desert shield 10's. Desert shield sales for $10,000. 9 less tomorrow hero's and $10,000 difference in cost. HUH?? What am I missing? Maybe the prices hsouldn't be equal, but they shouldn't be this far apart. help please.

Desert Shield is an absolutely iconic set. ProCards were never highly pursued, and I bet most people don't even know that company existed.

    It's supply AND demand.

The $10,000 card referred to is a 1991 Topps BB card that
has a gold embossed palm tree near the upper left
hand corner of the card. Pro Line cards had pictures
of military weaponry and a few military leaders. Maybe
then current President George Bush was also pictured. The
Topps cards were passed out to the troops in the Middle
East. A year or two after the war a few hoards were released
thru card shops and shows. At the Chicago National in 1993
or 1994 there were 2 dealers each with 5-6 5000 ct. boxes
selling them. They were very popular dealers and the talk of
the show except of coarse for the "Promo Cards" being handed
    out daily.

You pay a premium for the name Topps.

fleer produced tomorrow's heroes. isnt that the same company that produced the iconic jordan rookie? 1987 opc bonds $2,000, 1986 topps tiffany $1,500. tiffany is supposed to be the "best" right?

Rarity does not equal value. There's no end to the amount of examples of this in the hobby. There's hundreds, if not thousands, of baseball cards more rare than the T206 Wagner. Supply and demand can be mutually exclusive.

No doubt. But we are talking about "rookie" cards of HOFers. The only reason the OPC Bonds is higher than the 1986 Tiffany, imo, is scarcity. Tony Gwynn is the same way, Snadberg is the same way.

It's a minor league card issued the same year as his major league rookies. I just don't see demand for this one ever increasing. Scarcity can also be due to lack of interest, not lack of gradeable copies.

Thanks to all for your answers. I did notice that another minor league card of chipper's sold for $275, pop 5. Maybe that's the one everyone wants.
