Pin holes

I’ve never bought or subbed a card with one but I’m thinking of pulling the trigger on a card that has one. It’s a card that has great eye appeal and is centered like a 9 but would probably grade a 6 without the pin holes which would be a $8k card. So just curious what a card with a pinhole will grade max? I thought I remember reading on here that it would be a 1.
That would be fine but I just want to know what I’d be looking at because the difference between an A & 1 is more than 2x.
Thanks,
Kevin

Guaranteed PSA1. Some great values in otherwise perfect cards w pinholes.
I had a card get a PSA grade 2 with a pin hole. Hope this helps.

The pinhole guarantees a low grade, but if the card looks like a 6, it should sell for considerably more than the average 1 or 2... Savvy collectors pay a premium for low-grade cards with exceptional eye appeal.

Here is a good example... pin hole but GREAT eye appeal!
I think they're most often 1s but I've seen a 2 as well. Pinholes are different than thumb tacks.
I have one as well. I always assumed that the grader missed the pinhole somehow, rather than it being allowed to grade that (relatively) highly despite the hole.
Thank all everyone. If I end up snagging it I'll be sure to post.

Does anyone have an image of a pinhole PSA 2?

Here's mine from a somewhat recent sub ...
Here's an example. The pin hole is right in the middle of his nose.

I'm wondering if it's possible PSA missed the pinholes? The Mantle looks like it would grade out a 2 without the pinhole so it's possible there. Any creases on the Bobby Jones, LC?
Both great cards, btw!
Arthur
The Mantle also has a bad crease in the bottom half of the card. Grade is probably close to what it should be.
Patrick
Yeah, that's why I said it would grade out a 2 even without the pinhole.

Arthur,
That was my guess, until I saw how many others in this thread mentioned 2s with pinholes also. I was guessing the Jones was in the 2-3 range without the pinhole, assumed it would be an automatic 1 with, and quite surprised when it popped as a 2.

Better pic... pinhole above "d" in "outfield"
Wow, that is a sweet Teddy Ballgame and a super great example of buy the card, not the holder.
