An interesting 1837 Contemporary Bogus Bust Half Dollar...

I recently picked this one up. According to the Contemporary Counterfeit Capped Bust Half Collectors Club website. I believe it to be a Davignon 8H- Obverse 8 / Reverse H. Reeded Edge. Rare 1 known. I guess this makes 2.
This one has a reeded edge and weighs 10.58 g. Looks to be german silver. I really love how it has a seated half dollar reverse! So definitely made after 1839.

Neat "coin." Do you think the scratches are contemporary in order to determine genuineness?
I’m pretty confident they are.
In that case, the coin doubles in coolness!
IMO, the scratches are just scratches. Normally, scratches to test a coin are deeper and wider.
Vintage counterfeits seem to have an elevated number of scratches.
I've noted this with "micro-o" Morgan Dollars as well.
I think it is due to the suspicions of various handlers over the years.
Great piece.
The quality of the obverse is actually quite good.
Then they just gave up!
Where's that xray scanner gizmo? Would be interesting to know the metal content. Peace Roy

I would too. The closest I could guess is German silver. From collecting Feuchtwanger tokens, the metal looks very similiar but it would be cool to know the exact composition.
Cool, I like those old vintage counterfeits !!!
