Mike Trout Antique Mall Find

I'm not sure what the majority considers a "find" but I'll share anyway. I know a lot of sellers in antique malls tend to price things on the high side but when I saw this I couldn't pass it up. I was on a lunch break from jury duty and I went into an antique mall to waste time. I came across a booth that had a bunch of sports related items and I wanted to see all the overpriced common items that can be found everywhere but something caught my eye. A 2011 Topps Update Mike Trout BGS 9.5. It was priced at $299. At first I thought no way. I had to double check to make sure everything seemed legit. It was. I knew the selling prices were going for way over that so I got the lady to unlock the case. I grabbed the card, went to the register, paid, and walked out. It felt like stealing. I then began to think of the seller who probably didn't know what he had. Then I thought how long that card was in his case. The prices have gone up significantly but the seller maybe didn't realize that in time and never got around to raising his asking price. I already own this card but I couldn't pass up the opportunity for a second. My goal is to own a 2011 Topps Update Trout Gold in PSA 10. So I listed it and ended up selling for $457.00. Not a bad return. I'll hold those funds until I can finally afford my gold but I got a ways to go. I know this isn't the found a bunch of cards for dirt cheap and flipped for a fortune, but it's a win with me. What's your story? Have any of you found something that you could not pass up? Did you keep it or flip for something better?

making $90 +/- after all the fees is hardly stealing. Light cherry picking perhaps.

i wouldn't feel like it was stealing. A really good deal for sure but you paid what they were asking and you made some money but not that much.

I bought a modern card for $250 in CDN funds and flipped it on eBay hoping to get $300 US which would be almost $400 CDN, It went for $1200 US. I did not try to find the guy that sold it to me to give him more, I paid him exactly what he was asking. Think of all the bad card purchases we have all made, its nice in the end if you can at least break even and ENJOY YOUR COLLECTION.

As long as you realized a profit over your cost it is a win.

Nice quick flip. Apply the profit for another flip or buy something you enjoy.

Nice find. I bet it was priced last year and sat in the case for awhile without being updated to match current market value.
