1st purchase newbie

I've been on EBay for 15 years, have bought and sold 1000's items, my first buyer with zero feedback, they have never bought or sold anything. Did not buy expensive card. Any advice for selling to no feedback?

First time for everyone.......

FWIW - I believe it is PWCC's policy for zero feedback is that you can only be the high bidder on one auction at a time. No price limit. Once you pay for an item with them, or receive feedback from another seller, you can bid on as many items as you want. That might not be directly applicable to you but how they "protect" themselves. I'd be optimistic that our hobby has grown by one and everyone needs to start somewhere ....

If it's a cheap item, I wouldn't worry. On my more expensive (for me) stuff, I have my buyer requirements set to require 5 feedback minimum to bid/offer.

I wouldn't worry about it. I've never had issues with a newbie buyer. Don't expect feedback, but other than that, everyone should go just fine.

For smaller items I have had good luck selling to 0 feedback bidders before, the way I see it is they might be a legit buyer and as far as I’m concerned their money is good too. Now let me contradict myself and say that if I’m putting a higher dollar item ( North of $200) to bid then I will set the limit to established buyers, at least 10+ positive. On the other hand I sold a $350 silver bar and got screwed by a 500 positive feedback buyer so you never know

There are some real gems out there. I sold a 1972 OPC Willie Mays for about $6 including shipping (Bubble envelope, penny sleeve, top load, team set bag). I put nice scans of the front and back and a good description. No creases, centered, ok corners. For $6, it was a waste of time, I know. It would probably grade PSA 5 or 6. He decided he wanted to return it and was a real jerk about it. I would have to pay for return shipping. I basically told him to shove his Willie (Mays) where the sun don't shine and refunded him to avoid the neg. He basically feedback extorted me to get his lousy $6 back.

Remember, having 0 feedback doesn't necessarily mean they are new to Ebay.

They could already have multiple accounts, and for whatever reason decided to start a new one.

Can't think of a good reason to start a new account unless old account had bad feedback. My eBay account is 15 years old with feedback over 1000 at 100%, 97% of that is sales. I want potential customers to know I sell and deliver what I advertise.

I've got a few steady customers on Ebay who open up a new account almost every time they make a purchase. I don't know why they do that?

I see New accounts whenever eBay has a good promo limited to 1 per account.

Getting close to the 20k, 200 item cutoff for a 1099? Time for new eBay/PayPal accounts. For those that are keen to tax evasion, anyway.

It ended up working out. The first time buyer claimed he never got the card after two weeks, only had to go 150 miles via USPS, sent with no tracking number, my bad. I refunded him his money.

A week after that he contacts me, the card arrived and he refunded my refund.

Moral of the story, how about "Don't judge a book by its cover" ?
