Fake Minor League Cards on eBay

Seller selling a variety of minor league cards and they all appear fake. I took a look at the Maddux and the "DD" does not look chopped off at the bottom like it should be. Also, the print looks blurry as readily seen in the red Cubs logo.

He has many other high profile minor league cards for sale at low prices, all listed as "unknown" original or reprint to try and cover himself. There has already been a Cal Ripken Jr Blue Charlotte O's card that has been sold for $650. The image looks pixilated and blurry plus the colors look entirely too saturated. I am sure Memory Lane would like to have a talk to him as he is trying to hide under their guise. I have already reported many of the items, even the Ripken in hopes they will contact the buyer and he can return it.

Thanks Maddux, good info. I just ripped all the scans for future reference and comparison. You can actually see print lines in the photo portion of the Sandberg and what looks like was a pinhole on the original card in his forearm. It would be funny if they weren't trying to steal from people.

I'm not familiar with the Maddux at all but I have to imagine the red Cubs on the front would be a telltale spot as well. Very little definition in the fake copy.

Great catch on the Sandberg! The telltale on most Maddux fakes is that the "DD" looks cutoff in the real versions, something counterfeiters have found it difficult to recreate. This is also true on the 1986 Procards Randy Johnson.

And check out the seller ID. I guess they are also trying to mislead people into thinking they are _Memory Lane_

After doing some more internet detective work, I can say with near certainty that the Ripken card is a reprint.
