Michael Phelps, perhaps the best swimmer and Olympian of all time, just had one of his oldest records shattered by Superman — a 10-year-old named Clark Kent in California.
Michael Phelps has already solidified himself as the greatest swimmer of his generation — if not of all time.
It’s only fitting, though, that Superman is the one to pass him up.
No, not the Superman from the planet Krypton. And no, not Henry Cavill, who has played Superman in the latest reboot of the series in the D.C. Universe.
This Superman is just 10 years old, and he’s already shattered one of Phelps’ oldest swimming records.
Clark Kent Apuada, appropriately named Superman, won the 100-meter butterfly at the Far West International Championship in California on Sunday with the time of 1:09:30 — more than a full second faster than the record Phelps set at the same championship in 1995.
Ten years old? Incredible.
Almost hard to believe.

Bruce Wayne will not be pleased.
They would have named their kid Bruce Wayne if they wanted him competing in obstacle courses.
does the little shit wear eyeglasses with no lenses in them?
Saw this story on the CBS nightly news. Wonder when NIKE will sign him up.
I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if they've already contacted the parents.
Even though it seems to have been reported accurately in a reporting sense, I'm still going to keep tabs on this.
I mean a kid as a 10 year old breaking records of the greatest Olympic swimmer of all time? Seems almost hard to believe if not impossible to believe.
Perhaps it's true, but perhaps it's some sort of spoof. The British do this all the time with their press. It's like a cottage industry over there trying to fool the press into reporting outrageous stories as fact, and the general population gets a kick out of it.
How well will he do when his competition realizes all they must do is slip a bit of kryptonite into the water?

The kid broke a record Phelps set when he was 10 years old. In swimming it seems each generation gets better and better so its not surprising that a 23 year old record would go down.
Seems like a good kid, and a straight A student.

Gareth: "I was thinking will there ever be a boy born who can swim faster then a shark?
it's a great personal story and record for this young man but it is an age group record so it's impossible to tell where the two compare at that age in their development, how this 10 year old will grow physically and what his desire to compete will be like. I expect we'll hear more about him but doubt he will seriously challenge all that Phelps has accomplished.
