The Iron Man. Gary Elliott. 50 years of oval track racing. He's 71.

Imagine a professional sportsman who has a half century of competition behind him ?

My buddy, Gary Elliott is that guy. He races in two different oval track series. Against kids 50 years younger than he is... and wins.

As far as we can find out, his 45 years of continuous sponsorship by Quaker State Motor Oil is the longest driver/sponsor relationship in any type of motor racing. He shows no sign of retiring, and this year he will race 28 times, plus do 18 personal appearance shows for his 3 main sponsors.

He has all ways been number 36, since day one.

Gary's contract with Quaker State has been renewed for both 2019 and 2020.

He jokes that when he dies he's going to be racing at the Pearly Gates International Speedway, in the seniors unlimited class. He figures if they don't have race cars...he will build a really fast electric wheelchair. I say that if there were no cars in the world, he would be racing frogs or turtles. He is the only guy I know who would move his family 45 miles, so he could live across the street from the his home race track.
