Marilyn performing for the troops in Korea. My dad was 18yo and in the AF and remembered celebrating Christmas.

He gets called into see the commander. He is obviously worried. Turns out his uncle was an Army Colonel stationed near Seoul. He gets on a transport with another kid from his hometown and they spend Christmas touring bombed out Seoul.

Always remarked when he saw the news how amazing it was that they rebuilt into a modern city.

Koko Head and its crater rise to 1,208 feet and like Diamond Head it served as a vantage point and site for a pillbox during World War II. The track that was used to haul supplies to the top is today a stepped hiking trail. Hawaii Five-0 even included an episode featuring it with an injured hiker being rescued. (Today it is Oahu's third most noted hiking site requiring rescues, just behind Makapu Lighthouse Trail and Diamond Head.)

Legend has it that this high volcanic tuft cone was created by a a flying bloody body part of a goddess Kapo engaged in a sea battle with a shark and in fact the word Koko in Hawaiian means blood.

In the subsequently linked video one can see the back side of Koko Head along with its massive crater. Both videos were filmed on this first day of 2025. The first from a lookout site near Hanamu Bay and the second from the Makapu Lighthouse Trail.

I believe the base of the stone is in a hollowed out area that allows weight straight down. This state park in Siberia has 3 hanging rocks of which the first one appears the worst. JMO

Link to Video of "The Lighthouse" as seen in the below referenced TV Series LOST:

Below is my video of the setting as it is seen today where the above pictured LOST TV scene was filmed.

In this panoramic video the Kaiwi Shoreline Trail, as it it extends from the Makapu Lighthouse Trail out to the shoreline, is seen with hikers traversing the trail’s unimproved dirt path.

It was here close to the shoreline where the base of “The Lighthouse” as seen in the TV Series LOST was located. (Episode 6 X .05, 2/23/2010) For those who recall the series it was here that doctor Jack Shepherd and Hurley went to meet the mythical Jacob and where Jack smashed the lighthouse mirrors.

As the camera pans right a spectacular view of Oahu’s Koko Head with its massive crater comes into view.

The visible shoreline was once home to a Ranch that exists no more due to its destruction in the 1946 Tsunami.

The 1.2 mile long Kaiwi Shoreline Trail extends from Makapu to the once existent shoreline community of Wawamalu. The trail encompasses three sandy inlets and rocky points that allow for swimming and fishing respectively.

Last night's glowing sunset over the Alaska Range including Volcano Mount Spurr along with Mount Susitna and Mountains Foraker and Denali are all captured in this below linked panoramic video,

As the camera pans from the northern taxiway of Anchorage Alaska’s international airport a jet is seen ascending above the atmospherically magnified mountains of the Alaska Range with its volcanoes including the visibly tallest, Mount Spurr.

Concurrently the sound of a closer by helicopter is heard as it flies between Mount Susitna and the peaks of Mount Foraker, and as seen at the far right, Denali, the tallest mountain in North America.

On a cold crisp last night, during the first week of 2025, the glowing light from the setting sun silhouetted the mountains of the Alaska Range to include Volcano Mount Spurr situated some 78 miles across Cook Inlet from Anchorage Alaska.

As the camera pans the night lit mountains the sounds of a close by train are heard before it comes into view creeping back toward a lighted Port of Anchorage.
