It is now approaching 17 years that the United States Air Force's F-22 fighter jets have fulfilled their mission in dominating the skies between Alaska and Russia. Flying at speeds up to 1,500 miles per hour these missile equipped jets make their presence known to deter threatening aircraft.
In this video watch and listen as they return to Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson (JBER) this mid May Day. Then continue to take in the panoramic images of the snow capped mountains below the billowing clouded sky that extend to the volcanoes of the Alaska Range to Mount Susitna as seen across the ocean waters of Cook Inlet.

This will be pretty interesting to some of you…
Yesterday I got a national bank note, from Asheville, where I work and close to where I live…
Anyway, today I located the actual bank that this note was issued from back in the early 1930s:
Did you take it in a show it to the prez of the bank. I would bet he would be pleased to see it.
Jim
Actually, that’s cool that you ask, a friend of mine, who is also a member on here, is the great grandson of the President of that bank, and apparently he went and talked to the guy and was offered a tour of the place, I’m not sure if he has done that yet or if he plans to, but if he is going to do that, I will try to be involved because I would like to see it myself! So yes, I want to do that!
Cooler still, about 20 years ago I used to pay my car payment in that very building, in the early 2000s that used to be Asheville savings bank.
Mount Spurr, the highest visible peak at 9,800 feet and 80 miles distant is seen here at the Southern Edge of a break in the Alaska Range.
(An active volcano it has erupted multiple times since 1953 covering 80 mile distant Anchorage in volcanic ash.)
.
In this video clip from today, look for Mount Spurr in the closing frames:
Here is a close video view from today of F-22 Raptor Fighter Jets as they pierce the clouds and their engines roar in their return to home base, Joint Base Elmendorf Richardson (JBER).
The camera then pans toward a close-up view of both Mount Susitna and 80 mile distant Mount Spurr, which at 9,800 feet is the highest peak among the visible mountains as seen in the Alaska Range. Mount Spurr, an active volcano, has erupted multiple times since a major 1953 eruption that covered Anchorage in up to an inch of ash. The ending frames of this video offer an excellent view of Mount Spurr and its surrounding mountains in the Alaska Range
When I was in the Navy, I worked on A6 Intruders. And now they are bound for the Airplane Bone yard. I guess I was not as good of a technician as I thought

Nothing better than a cool story with a neat followup. Keep us informed.

100% agree!
Finding the building and knowing a descendent from the bank President has made the note that much cooler to own! Indeed!
