You did a great photographic job documenting that facility.
i know it is a picture thread but any fans of turn-of-the-century digs (babysitters?) with a lot of good finds in very good quality. maybe the babysitters have to be metal or concrete or something?
.
cool! ok, you're the phil they talk about here on the forum a lot.
are any of those mineral/fossil finds yours?
i've watched TONS of fossil preservation and digs along with minerals and mineral shops/shows and the stuff that exists is simply breathtaking.
the geode with the design like a hurricane waves crashing is lovely. is that a chunk of gold with the iron?red color? if it is, very unusual as i'm sure you know. the grey/silver triangular piece reminds me of the "virus" from the andromeda strain movie (newer one) and is kinda spooky! the triobite looks very well exposed/preserved!
have you seen/held some of the fossils that were pseudomorphed with pyrite, opal, etc. those can be staggering.
here is a pinterest link for those that want a nice diverse selection of images for minerals/fossils/gems etc. - i think you have to have an account to view a lot.
For this Friday's Posting - Exploring in photos the Oahu Beach that is best known as a Movie Set.
It is coming up on seven decades since the 1953 movie "From Here to Eternity" with its iconic embrace in the sand and surf between Burt Lancaster and Deborah Kerr was filmed on Oahu's Halona Beach. Even so, the beach remains better known today as 'Eternity Beach."
More recently in 2010 this small cliff surrounded beach located next to the Halona "Lookout" Point "Blowhole" natural attraction, and only accessible by climbing down a cliff, was the movie set for the Mermaid infested Whitecap Bay Scene in the Johnny Depp and Penelope Cruz film, "Pirates of the Caribbean on Stranger Tides."
Pictured here are views of the filming of the two movies on the "Eternity Beach" Set followed by recently taken photos on and from the beach:
Looking down to "Eternity Beach" from the Blowhole Parking pullout:
The cliff climb down to the beach:
The beach's rock-walled backdrop with its secret cave that extends under the scenic Kalanianaole above:
Views looking outward to the Pacific Ocean:
Our motley crew lines up to frolic in the sand and surf of "Eternity Beach:"

Check out Diamond Hill Mine in SC images online at the crystals being found there.
I've found some nice amethyst and aquamarine. It's also geographically located near the gold mines of SC.
