1977 Media Slides

I picked up a 1977 Tigers set of Media slides recently. I think they are cool and don't see many of them around. I'm trying to get some solid history on these. What are they officially called. I've seen references to AP slides on these forums but also media slides as well as ABC Monday Night Baseball slides. I only found one link through a dealer who has some info but nothing in print like through SCD or part of the registry. Anyone have anything they can add?

Ideally I'm hoping I can send in the Fidrych for grading at some point.
