Looking at the pictures in the story, if it was me, I don't think I'd have it pushed on a wheeled cart. Way too much vibration.

figured by now, PSA would've offered a free reslab into a new lighthouse label holder.

PSA may have it down to a perfect science but I would be scared to death to tamper with the holder and risk damage to the card. There is no doubt the new holders look better but at the end of the day the card inside is what matters and it is stunning.
Hey, its the card PSA uses as the Gem Mint 10 example on their website!

I actively collect Kirby Puckett. I have collections of Michael Jordan, Emmitt Smith, Roberto Clemente, Dwight Gooden, Tom Seaver, Errict Rhett and Evan Longoria.
Who said you had to choose between the three. Why not slip Mickey in your shirt pocket, label out, walk down to your very nice yacht at the dock of your little Santa Barbara getaway, and take Mickey out for a nice cruise.
Yeah, if you own that card you already have the beach front property and the yacht.

do we know the origin story? how'd it stay in such amazing shape?
From the article, "Fogel has owned the Mantle card since buying it in 1996 when the going rate was $2,000-$3,000."
That's quite a substantial profit from his original investment. Probably equivalent to buying Microsoft stock in the early 80s.
buying O-Pee-Chee (OPC) baseball
Wonder how many people are scouring for low pop PSA 10s in that price range hoping for a similar windfall 20+ years from now... maybe Devon White!

"This was one of the greatest finds in hobby history," said Fogel. "I owned two [PSA MT] 9s of Mantle from that find, and I sold those to help pay for my PSA [GEM-MT] 10 Mantle."
Didn't he set the initial record for a card at something like 121k for it?

I feel like I've been "cheating" my graded cards.
Not giving them "the blue glove treatment."
