only worth the high premium if it finishes up with less than previous low mintage (5,800 - 2017). With a published mintage limit of 10K and an immediate back order on first day, demand looks high. I predict at this point it will not be a new king. Price should drop $50 (if still available) next week based on their pricing chart.

Back order status tells me they did not initially strike a lot, probably wanted to first get a feel for demand.

The back order until Oct. notice should help the quick flippers.

Something does not look right. I placed an order while showing "backordered" till October 17th but my CC was charged for the full amout right away. I thought USM only vharges before shipping?

It would be nice if there was a sellout, the market demand would finally be trending up.

Price will drop $50 next week when they re-price. Thursday I believe.

IMHO the Mint smelled plunging Gold Spot so they wisely held off on the initial run. And as a very positive end result, now they have a very hott product. When the price zooms to $5k in the secondary, I'll be wanting a couple so someone order extras. ;-)

    Burnished Mintages?

This is what I see when I search, why would 10,000 be such a great 2018 mintage for flipping even at $1,540 new lower price before grading when gold is under $1,230 as I type? I see no reason to rush purchasing on this coin. First strike and PCGS grading with shipping is about $50 each also and with 10% eBay fee, it will cost many sellers $1,700 for these leaving a very small margin, if any.

    derryb,

Edited to say after looking more, I think the 2007-W mintage was quite a lot around 18,066 in the one ounce. I think you are referencing the recent 2017-W which I did not include, like I should have. It has an estimated mintage of 5,800.

    Thanks.

Nice low number 4,149 now until they start minting them again. Lots of the year left, it would be very strange to stop so soon. However it does make one wonder what craziness could happen, so maybe they are still worth a look aftermarket.

I will wait for the secondary market and buy one there as I always do anymore. Much less risk-especially with the relatively low PM prices now.

Far from being a sellout. An Aug 8th restock date means that they are running off another thousand or two - probably two.

If the Gold Proof AGEs are any indication, they will keep however many they make in the 2nd run on sale until hell freezes over.

Like most Mint products these days, it's all about speculative demand - which they try to milk as long and as much as possible, while in turn - most buyers try not to be milked. If true market demand for this series is finally increasing, that would be great, but I remain somewhat skeptical for now.

Did anyone ever get a satisfactory answer as to the difference between a regular strike and the (formerly) burnished, and now uncirculated finish? I don't think one was ever officially offered.

There are just too many issues any more. I realize the mint's goal is to sell the coins and make a profit. Most buyers have lost money on these, some a lot of money especially on the TPG ones and are sitting out. I don't really see much of a rebound unless PM prices increase dramatically. I fondly recall the days when just gold and silver eagles were issued.

When Gold drops to middle earth I might get a few Bullion Britannias , finally. I've always wanted a few Briannas, got to love the stunning Lady. These USA Puppies set new lows every year. I no longer enjoy chasing Alice down the rabbit hole.

    two possibilities:

    • Still burnished, but not stated so on mint site.
    • No longer burnished, same as the unc. bullion coin but with a mint mark.

    Back Order AGAIN ?!?!?!

IN STOCK DATE is Nov 6, 2018. When delivery is made will there then be a flood of returns as everyone realizes the low mintage record was shattered long ago ? Or not? Hmmmmmm ?

Oh well , nothing ventured.... nothing gained ? Let me just put the truck in reverse and back up to the loading dock.

Why would there be a flood of returns in November? Right now, it appears the coin is fairly “common” for this series based upon its current sales figures. Wouldn’t this be just as timely a cancellation now before any more get shipped 3 months from now? Just my 2 cents. Wondercoin.
