1966 Topps PSA 9 ???

Has anyone seen the prices the 9's have brought from this set in the last week? Any thoughts? I realize they are pretty much all low pops, but $200 seems quite high.

  • set reg is pushing prices to the max it will all settle down when more are graded .66 fb same way common 8,s going for 70 nines well over 100 crazy
  • The last dozen 9's that have sold on ebay have ranged from $187.50 - $280.00. I think these numbers are crazy. If it keeps up I will be out of the 66 race.

    Todd,

Thanks for pointing that out. I'll be listing some '66s immediately. I also noticed my friend PC32 is trying to "strike while the iron is hot".
  • Dude -

I don't blame you one bit. I wish I had a few nines to let go of myself. Talk about profit margin !

  • I think there is some heavy competition on some Low pop cards... but I have also found that due to the way they were cut, PSA 9's in 66T are particularly tough. Comparing the ratio of PSA9's to PSA8's for the mid-60's... 1964 13.57%, 1965 13.32%, 1966 10.69%, 1967 13.76%

That is a pretty interesting stat. I know the cards were low pop cards, but there should be many more out there to be graded. Does anybody know if this happens any other sets, meaning do the low pop cards go way over smr and then get back down to normal, I usually only watch the 66's and 74's?

  • It happens fairly often on the 64's... I often end up paying 2x SMR or more for low pop 9's .... I know I could probably wait and get them for less.... but I'm not a very patient person....
