Customer Service....Rant

Really getting tired of some people in this industry who ignore emails or take several days to answer back. I am a customer looking to purchase from you. Why ignore or take a week to answer a simple question? Some of the big players in the business are the worst. I'm also tired of them not reading the simple question and answering it with an appropriate answer.

I was also at a card show on Sunday and its amazing how some dealers have their noses in their phones or just ignore you unless you ask. If you engage your customers and find out their interests, you will sell more! If they won't look up from their phone, I move on. And please organize your display so it doesn't look like you threw your cards up in the air and wherever they landed is where they be....If I am looking for Orioles cards, I don't want to wade through hockey, basketball, football, soccer, wrestling, pokemon etc. At least organize it by sport!

I like this post and totally agree. If you sale at a show, put the cards in some type of order. Most people just aren't going to stand there for hours trying to find Mike Schmidt cards, or 1983 topps commons. I would buy a much higher volume of material if I didn't have to go find it. The dealers that get this make more money, flat out, and it's not even close.

Work hard and you will succeed!!

I used to bring my tween daughter to card shows with me. She was getting into set building for a while but has mostly given it up because few if any dealers had their modern commons in any semblance of order. They might say its not worth their time to organize a large volume of cards for the 50 cards she might buy at 10 cents per. But I'd remind them if she isnt spending time going through the commons, then I'm not standing next to her looking at the higher priced items.

The guys that actually did take the time to talk to her always got a purchase - sometimes just a $5-$10 insert, sometimes a lot more - but a gesture to say thanks when they took the time to be gracious to a new kid in the hobby (which are a lot fewer than when I was a boy)
