Re: 1830 Large Cent-Medium Letters or Large Letters??
Hmmm... I've always just gone by the coinfacts website... I draw a straight line up from the last leaf. A Large Letters runs into the "S" in States, a Medium Letters has the "S" completely to the left of the line: Based on this, I'm seeing Medium Letters...

Re: If you collect a particular type of coin, why is it THAT type?
Is it due to:
the design?
affordability?
ties to your childhood?
Viewing bust halves for the first time as a child blew my mind. I remember that they were in an album but some were loose because I remember stacking perhaps 5-6 of them and admiring the edge lettering and design. The dark, original toning and the design itself with the lettered edge had this aura of age, beauty, and scarcity that left me awestruck. Ever since, I've liked dark toning and the feeling of age and originality that it conveys.
I love this photo, and it takes me back to that first exposure to their beauty when I was 9 or 10 years old. I own about a dozen of them today, yet I've never collected them by date or die marriage. They're also quite affordable in low to mid grades.
Re: American Liberty High Relief 2025
August 21'st is coming quickly. It really is a beautiful coin, anybody else in for one?

Re: Copyright Question…
Here’s the SABR article on it if anyone’s interested. There’s also a link to court records.

Re: Copyright Question…
I know only what others have stated regarding that series. With regard to copyright generically the copyright date doesn’t imply anything regarding production or release.
It’s probably most likely, and supports what I understand that the series was released in 1949 as the copyright on the cards consists or 1948 and 1949. This indicates that the series was likely produced over 1948-1949 and released in 1949.
