I wonder how thorough they are with checking the country of origin for a collectible... I doubt they have the time or ability to open each package and confirm. Likely have a database but if just listing 'sports card' & 'made in the USA', how would they know?
The exporter uses a HS code to specify the item category. Customs performs inspections and audits to ensure compliance but there's certainly sneaking going on - just not at volumes which are meaningful. Great slab @Downtown1974 I hope to find one of those at the Great American Coin show in a couple weeks. Great piece of history side by side.

Gold up for a few too!
How many would you say were up?
After several days, a whacky sleep schedule, and a few eyerolls from the Mrs. - Bingo!
First things first though, seeing is believing...

Re: How is the rise in gold prices impacting the overall rare coin market?
Junk gold and silver is more expensive than it was a year ago, the rise in prices for gold has swallowed up generic gold under the MS64 grade level as it all sells for around melt. Great if you have junk or ex-jewelry type material bought at lower spot prices as you are in the "rising tide raises all boats" camp and now may be a good time to dump that and take profits. The downside is that some dealers are not buying or discounting that type of material to offset risks of volatile spot price changes.

In the late 60's this car or a similar one was packed into a trailer and carted around to all of the Kmart's in the area. For 50 cents you could go in the trailer and see the car and about the couple and how they met their fate.

Received my copy of “By Weight, Not by Coyne” yesterday. I’ve only thumbed through it so far, but wanted to thank you again for the rec! Looks to be a great resource.
These boards are awesome.

Re: Saturday morning coffee with coins
Good Saturday morning!!!
The coffee is brewing and the air has an autumn feel to it as we approach my favorite time of the year.
Silver broke $40 this week, so why not honor the occasion with some popular modern faves.

That barber is just gorgeous.
Thank you! It is one of the few coins I’ve owned where the picture just can’t do it justice. It is beautiful in hand.
