I simply must learn how to take pictures and post them with my new smart phone so I can post to this post.
However, my very old friend Elliot the ginger cat took a turn for the worse. At least I was given the chance to say goodbye. Oct. 8th 2002 -- Dec. 12th 2024. I look forward to posting to my rather new coin friends but it will be a little while. James
I am sorry for your loss. I am sure Elliot was like a family member, as pets always are. My condolences.

Re: Peace dollar reed counts
I used to joke about this. I used to tell people it's missing one so they'd count them all. Really, I'd imagine it varies from year-to-year along the series, I'd imagine every one isn't exactly the same. Just of course a guess.
Re: Peace dollar reed counts
I have counted a few and the result was 189 on all of them.
But it was a very small sample from a limited span of mintage years (1922-1925, as I remember). Most or all were probably from Philadelphia.
So all I can say is that I have not noticed any variation from 189 on Peace Dollars.
Some 1921 Morgan Dollars are known with "coarse reeding" (also known as "infrequent reeding"). Those have 157 reeds.
This web page has good information about them: https://ssdcvams.com/1921widereeds-final.pdf

@WQuarterFreddie The day that I start collecting coins because I think that they will “soar” in value is the day that I will stop collecting coins. I bought a phenomenal Pine Tree shilling a few weeks ago and the pride of ownership, showing the coin to other collectors and teaching them about its history is what I value.Again, I only posted the article because I thought it was interesting because it mentioned coins I never knew existed.
Surely that couldn’t have been the only reason you decided to post the article, and you didn’t make note of that reasoning in the OP. I have a hard time believing you were expecting others to be interested for the same reason 🕵️♂️.
I thought we agreed to disagree yesterday. You are now questioning my honesty and integrity so to quote you:
"in the interest of posterity, it's best to set the record straight."
I posted the article because I thought it was an interesting read. Also, I was hoping other members would agree with me that it was interesting because it discussed the 1794 Flowing Hair coin which the Mint just produced it's replica.
I copy and pasted the exact title of the article and my OP was as follows:
Article I read today. Link for those that care to read and comment:
Interesting that they mention the 1794 Flowing Hair Silver Dollar😉
Instead, I am being attacked for promoting "clickbait" which I feel is an overreaction to the article by you and others which is my opinion.
You and some other members have an opposing opinion which is your right to express but you don't have the right to question my integrity.
Oh goodness Freddie, relax and have a beer or something. Yes, I was ribbing you because you started backtracking from the hole ypu dug yourself into yesterday. Sorry that I couldn’t resist , you just make it too easy. It was tongue in cheek, didn’t you see the detective emoji?

Many moons ago, I attended an FDLE forensics workshop in Tampa. I exchanged dept patches with someone from Alaska. Enjoy and happy holidays one and all. Peace Roy
