I wonder how many will be sold at the show.
Yeah, me too. My best guess is 500-1000.

Re: USING GREAT COLLECTIONS TO SELL WORLD COINS - EXPERIENCE
Umm. I got 105% sales price at SB.

Re: My first “show” report in ages and a coin-free one at that
So far - for me - it's been a good-to-great show.
The special show releases have gotten good traffic. "Secret hint" - the mint booth has a coin dispenser all the way to the left with the new Stacey Park Milbern Women's quarter. Put a dollar in, get 4 shiny new coins.
Dealer reports are mixed. Some did exceptionally well during the Monday Dealer Day and Tuesday morning. Some were quite disappointed at the limited public attendance on Tuesday afternoon (really, it's a TUESDAY and most of your customers are working??).
One friend has only sold three coins, which he probably could have sold without attending. But he's a real niche dealer, and well, it's not toned Morgans, so... plus he admitted he's in the black for the show on just those three sales.
Met up with several friends, although the big do is tomorrow night.
Found a couple of other crazy cat people (Friday is the day for my "If you don't talk to your cat about catnip, who will?" shirt.)
And I filled a difficult hole, something just niche enough and modest enough in cost that nobody ever brings it to shows. Except I found a dealer with FIVE in 2x2s.
My turn at our hosts' grading challenge is tomorrow - expect I'll bomb it as usual - so when they post the scores...
Re: ANA Day 1
It was a great day for me. I ran into several old friends that I never see at the FUN show in January. The highlight was getting to chat with Mark Feld after all these years.
I spent the day just walking and learning the show and the area. I was impressed with all the security officers in place. It looked to me that there was a steady pace of collectors walking the isles.
Great Collections had a large table at the show. I was able to chat with Ian for a few. GC has been a great help to me in my mission to reduce the size of my collection.

Re: Post a beautiful half dollar
I found this 1909 last week with my metal detector making it my most beautiful half dollar.

Re: FYI ANACS
Since May of 2024.
I took 3 months off to take a 25,000 kilometer tour circumnavigating Australia by camper van last year. 3 teen boys and wife. At that time, and due to my coming retirement, We decided to end the ANACS ancient program.
I am proud of my involvement in Ancients in ANA, ANACS, ANAAB, ICG, and then again at private ANACS.
We were the first to offer full service Grading in a slab with Grading and Authentication guarantees. Due respects to Robert Hoge, ANA curator and Davis Sear as certificate authentications.
Several firms, Amos ANACS, PCGS, NGC, briefly slabbed coins to satisfy ala'carte orders
for specific submitters, But not as a regular course of business.
Mistakes, We made a few. Counterfeit buy backs were less than 1/4 of one percent of our volume. Most notably the diobols of Messembria which caught the ancient dealers by surprise.
Wayne Sayles is owed gratitude for catching these.
I also turned away a few types of coins that later turned out to be genuine. But overall I think I did a fine job opening up this venue to the coin world, I was also aided by some invaluable consultants such as Rick Ponterio and sons, Steve Album and Joe Cribb, Allan Berman, The Sedwicks Father and son, Dave Vagi, Vic England, Kerry Wetterstrom, Harlan Berk, David Sear, Doug Mudd, George Fisher, Ken Bressett, Robert Hoge and others I am sure I am forgetting
This leaves Dave Vagi, A friend of mine for nearly 40 years to continue his great work at NGC.
While we both began this journey alone, Dave's success has earned him a staff.
I am still surprised PCGS has not entered the fray. I understand David Hall was warned away from involvement early on. Still, NGC and ANACS have done it. J.P. Martin

Re: Which Set Would You Finish?
I guess I started this as a "poll" last year... I'd forgotten about that... Also, the last "three to go" (Fugio, 1795 Half, and $3 Gold) are rounding out my Box of 20... at least for the moment
I'm getting back to work and another hiatus from collecting until next summer but I do have these three on multiple watchlists...

I wonder if the waiting room will be up for these.
It wasn't for the gold sac.
