Denver Coin Expo report - kind of...lots of photos!
I took the day off from work so I could attend since I won't be available over the weekend.
Got there about 10am and immediately forgot to take any photos of the entire event and crowd.
I got distracted and went right to looking around, drooling over coins, and chatting with many familiar faces ![]()
It was plenty busy, tons of great conversations and selling and buying happening everywhere.
Took a few things I brought to send off at the ANACS table.
Incredibly happy to run into my other favorite person from from World of Coins who was picked up by ANACS (is now a grader!) after Craig the owner unfortunately passed away last year, I had known Craig for a couple of decades starting from well before he purchased the coin shop.
Got to chat for a while with a couple of Denver Coin Club folks, I'm a member but don't get to go to nearly as many meetings as I would like to due to still being a 9-5er (actually an 8-4:30er).
Always fun having a quick chat with Dan Carr and partner, I swear I learn something new every time I see him, this time it was about the Sacagawea obverse coin design and it actually being the only coin design with a copyright. Dan was selling plenty as well as some sweet 1922 buffalo nickels he struck last night.
I got a few compliments on my shirt too, got it custom printed a couple weeks ago..and according to what I had just learned, might be breaking the law for making it and wearing it ![]()
A nice gentleman and his wife (J.B.'s Coins)..."hey, you want to see a really wild error?!". Me, "yes, yes I do." Check out the error bill in the photos!
Said hello to Paul at his table (A Coin Shop) and had to check out a beatiful buffalo, MS68 with creamy colors, lovely.
Brought just a couple things to possibly sell and was surprised how quickly I sold them at prices I was extremely happy with.
Bought a few things including a handful of OBW rolls. Rolls...they make me happy.
Great vibes at the show, lots of smiles, and an absolutely beautiful day today in Denver.
Some favorite things while exploring...

Much love from the Denver area everyone! Have a great weekend!!

Re: 2025 Gold $50 Proof Buffalo to be record low mintage?
The 2025 Gold proof Buffalo is sold out, and here are the latest numbers:

It came in at 7839 so far after the sell out, which is a record low. However, the 2026 which goes on sale next month shows they have 7950 in inventory which would make it close to the 2025.
If the 2025 can't hold a large premium, then 2026 seems unlikely to as well.
However, since the 2026 is a dual date coin, many may prefer it over the 2025 into the future. So far dual dates have done well in the market.

Re: Missing members...who do you realize is missing?
Im pretty new to alot of people on the forums that post nowadays but, maybe only a small hand full would remember me. Only in passing likely. My screen name was " ccr " and apparently my account has been deleted which shows how long Ive been out of the loop which is about 13 years or so. Seen this post and couldn`t resist adding something to it. Not actively collecting but still have what I did when I posted here years ago.
So sorry to hear about Russ passing away. Excellent Kennedy half collector. Couple more we have lost along the way since the early days like Fc57coin ( "The Pug " ), and the tragic loss of " Sheriff Sample Slab ".
Also anyone remember Carolj and the up coming kid " airplanenut ". Incredibly sharp kid. Remember " lordmarcovan "? he posted mainly in the world coins and was really funny. mdwoods the milwright. Always liked and Lucybop.
Clw54 still posts and that is wonderful. The voice of reason back then and was likely the backbone of the place. The guy you always looked up to and was quite modest about it.
If you want to look at some of the old posts go here: https://web.archive.org/
I havent found a way to the old open forums. They closed it down around 2005/2006. It was a shame as there where alot of great off topic information on it that didnt relate to coins ( which was it`s intended purpose ). Can understand now why.
Dont know if Ill post much as I`m out of the hobby now. Like I said, I still have all those coins from when I posted then and was looking at them again recently and brought back alot of good memories of being here. Alot of really great memories and invaluable information. Easily made me a better collector.
