Re: The OFFICIAL COINSTAR FINDS THREAD

Here in Germany the chances of finding silver coins in the return tray of a coinstar (or similar) machine are pretty slim. But I still like to check for spare coins from time to time.
In january the pickings were pretty slim, just a few (Euro-)Cents and a Swedish Krona.
But December yielded a lot of finds, including 19.50€ ($23.10) in change and a few foreign coins.
They are all foreign coins. ![]()

Re: The OFFICIAL COINSTAR FINDS THREAD
Today I found 4,82€ on my way into the shop. On the way out, there was another spendable Cent in the return tray, and a Thai 25 Satang aswell.

Great Britain - Toners
I bought these out of an old collection a while back. Not super expensive coins, but nice. What do you all think of the toning? They were stored in old paper envelopes for decades.

Looks like a warm “Red Eye” Saturday here in the SF Bay Area.

Today’s coin has some interesting history:

The 1909-O G$5 is an anomaly. There had been no New Orleans minted gold coins since 1894. In 1909, the other three operating branch mints in Philadelphia, Denver & San Francisco minted large quantities of half eagles. New Orleans though? Only 34,200. It’s a mystery any were minted there at all, especially after the long hiatus.
Moreover, it’s a one year type & the last year gold coins of any denomination were produced in New Orleans.
Per Doug Winter, quality of these coins are often not good. A nice AU55 like this one is the exception. Details of this piece are also strong & well defined. The coveted CAC sticker is a huge bonus & how about the OGH?
