Re: Buyer beware when dealing w/ Superior Galleries!
<< <i>It seems like they play a game when a coin gets sold for less than they think it's worth >>
That assertion has already been debunked. Read the the thread that Coinguy1 linked. They delivered this same coin for $52.50.

Re: Buyer beware when dealing w/ Superior Galleries!
2. The coin was won by “Beepy” at a winning bid. Which E-Bay calls a contract between both parties.
3. “Beepy” sent payment for the coin.
4. SG did not deliver auction coin...
5. ...yet.
Re: Buyer beware when dealing w/ Superior Galleries!
In your examples, there are real damages. In the Beepy situation, there are no real damages--other than that he did not get a rip on the coin he was seeking. Now, if his blood pressure was elevated so high while writing those scathing letters to Superior that he had an intraprenchymal hemorrhage (bleeding in the brain caused by high blood pressure), then you have damages!
This is a great thread; because it shows the different between Dealers and Collectors and the whole coin market with respect to selling coins.
I disagree. I am a collector, and while I agree that Superior was wrong, I learned in pre-school that "two "wrongs" don't make a "right" ".

<< <i>How many times have I seen members complain that bad behavior on the part of dealers hurts the entire hobby. >>
By definition, "bad behavior" would be a deliberate act. This was not a deliberate act, it was a mistake. A mistake that they tried to rectify by going in to the market and offering double the money that the coin sold for in order to try and satisfy their buyer. That effort is good behavior.

He didn't get screwed. He just didn't get a rip at well below market value, and his money was refunded.

Randy just released that he has cancer of the bowel duct that is between the liver and the pancreas. he had surgery 6 days ago to remove the mass and will need to have chemo and radiation.I sure hope he beats this. 47 seems pretty young. I guess cancer does not care about age.
Pasted:
Bile duct cancer, also known as cholangiocarcinoma, is a rare and aggressive cancer that forms in the bile ducts:
What it is
Bile duct cancer occurs when malignant cells grow in the bile ducts, which are small tubes that connect the liver and gallbladder to the small intestine. That's what Walter Payton died from.
I didn't know that. Fortunately cancer treatment has evolved very nicely since that time. Hopefully Moss is wise enough to find an oncologist who practices up to date treatment therapies, and not some old school doctor who hasn't changed his treatment beliefs since med school.
