I don't. Designer's initials are out of place and too big. Why can't those initials (CAC) go on that ledge at the base of LIBERTY'S neck? It's like the designer is getting as much stage as the design. It's totally inappropriate, in my opinion.
@winesteven You know in real life that coin is not that big. It is much, much smaller in person.

My guess, and this might just be the pessimistic side of me showing through, is that any "raging internal debate going on" would have to do with what is cheaper and easier; either do proper coinage testing of anything remotely questionable or take the hit in numismatic reputation and public relations by punting grossly questionable decisions. Remember, PCGS is in this to make money.
Excellent points. I'd only also state PCGS is also in this to find the truth.
Truth = credibility.
Credibility is what drives collectors and dealers to pay the submission fees.
Re: PCGS 1863 J-299 Cent Possibly Misidentified
My gut tells me that this is not a J-299 but a corroded CN Cent. We had another situation a while back where NGC misidentified a 1860 CN corroded cent as a 1866 J-456 pattern. It happens every now and then, but I feel that all patterns should have metallurgic analysis done as a confirmation on metal content at least.

Real simple, IMHO they have lost track of their buyers and the supply/DEMAND curve, with emphasis on the latter. I think that demand will fall off a cliff for a huge number of their products. Could be wrong but severely doubt it. Their choice and I know they care nought for most of their base, which I would imagine will come around to bite them severely.
They could be in for a rude awakening but I suspect they just want to trim back their product line a little and capitalize on emerging markets. Some of these increases are simply astounding. They increased the premium on dollar coin rolls from $11 to $36 or more than triple. These coins are now costing their customers nearly $2.50 each and many are just seeking Gem or varieties. If you retain only five coins from a roll and spend the rest you have $15/ coin tied up in it.
I have to believe some of this year's offers will be the last.
