Re: W Quarter Pricing Continues To Be Strong Heading In To 2025
W's are cool. 20 million makes them rare enough but not impossible! Sure some are getting circulated too much, but I still think there are some that have never seen the light of day out there, hidden in some box somewhere rolled up!!! > @joeykoins said:

How do you guys think about this years S uncirculated quarters with a mintage under 300,000?
Definitely rare, but imagine if the mint had dumped them into circulation like the W's??? Those would have been red hot!!!

Tampa Bays' McMillan scores TD and makes a "rifle" like gesture after TD. No index finger use as if firing the "rifle". 15 yard penalty. Time to get rid of the "shotgun" offensive play. And the "shotgun" word reference.
Hopefully you are kidding - the time of getting rid of "Offensive" words and "Gestures" to please 1% of the nuts out there is hopefully over!

@WQuarterFreddie -NONE of your discussions are about "collecting" , they're all inflammatory topics about Vaultbox or the like. Finding W quarters in circulation and reselling them is also not "collecting". Not sure how long you can play the "novice" card either, you've been a member here for 5 years. Do you have a collection? If you did, and you posted it, I would never say anything negative about it. In fact, I would love to see a post of that nature. Recently you promoted a clickbait article to which I tried to explain is not something that should be promoted, and you stubbornly argue about it. Im happy to help novices who actually want to learn about collecting, and I spend more time than anyone trying to do, so I haven't gotten that impression from you so far.
Again, quite ironic that you as a dealer who SELLS his coins complain about me selling some of my W quarters. Hypocritical of you for sure.
Also, most of my discussions that I started have been about W quarters and they have not been closed or deemed inflammatory but there you go again criticizing me for posting about them. How is this thread inflammatory?
The only inflammatory posts I see on this thread are YOUR posts mocking me for selling my First Discovery Quarters and claiming I told you to buy them as great investments which for the record I never said to you or anyone else.
To be clear, yes I have a vast W quarter collection and will be happy to start a thread and post them for you because I know you are eager to prove to others that you really care about my collection.🙄
Your negative posts speak for themselves and it is getting old.
Also, Dan it is time for you and the other members to get over the VaultBox threads.
That is ancient history and I was not the only one to start them or discuss them as a valid product for anyone who wanted to gamble with their money.
I stand by my statement that I will NEVER contact you regarding any coins.😎
Not sure how collecting and dealing makes me a hypocrite, I didn't say selling coins doesn't make you a collector.

Freddie, go through my comments and count how many times i've commented on someone's new coin, or accomplishment like finishing a set of modern coins or something completely different than what I collect. You're way off base here, I'd be one of the first to congratulate you if you posted something like that or that you had achieved a goal of yours.

Which ones? This thread is about value retention and I posted a screenshot of APR's relevant to the discussion. My other sarcastic comment was because you made a statement without providing any data or evidence to back it up. Actually, you're the one that makes things personal and starts making ad-hominem attacks, I only point out flaws in your argument.
I stand by my statement that I will NEVER contact you regarding any coins.😎
Don't know why you're trying to hammer this home, I dont care and I wasn't wating by the phone. Nort do I stock anything you'd be interested in.

Freddie has had me on ignore, off and on, for years. So, he and I aren't friends. However, i do think this is a little unfair.
Freddie may not be interested in classic coins. Freddie may not study the numismatic history of the US. But I don't think that's a requirement to be a "collector". If he's only interested in moderns or W's, isn't that good enough?
The members of this forum really aren't the average collector out there. All any coin shop owner who spends all day talking to people with collections of Susan B $s and $2 bills. There is room for all of us.
My point was that I hadn’t seen him post much about collecting, I never said he wasn’t a collector. The qualifier for being a collector is collecting, whatever it may be. I answer phone calls all week from people who want to search change. And I tell them to search for the w quarters among other things. But if they don’t intend to keep any of them, and they only want to make a profit by reselling, then no, they’re not collectors. If they want to assemble a set or fill out an album , then they would be. I even said that I would love to see his collection, but i wasn’t even sure if he had one because he doesn’t post about it.
Re: 2024 New England Patriots Discussion Thread
There are reports coming out that Mayo knew going into this game that he was gone regardless of the result and winning this game must have felt great going out like he did. He should have been gone after last week's embarrassing loss to the Chargers.
This franchise really deserves all of the ridicule being thrown their way right now.

As one of the comments by someone else above pointed out, one of the problems of placing a very high max bid early on GC, is that yes, you might end up the high bidder, but because of all the time left, people will “eat away” at your lead, and you may then end up paying more than you otherwise would have paid. In this scenario, other people who don’t snipe and don’t bid nuclear for fear of being the high bidder at a crazy price, but place their “max” bids with a minute or two left on the clock, once they see their max bid was not good enough, they may then place a new “max” bid, and do that several times, getting “more bites at the apple”.Here’s a real life example that took place on GC about four weeks ago. A friend of mine wanted/needed a certain very high grade coin. It turns out only he and one other bidder were serious at a high price level (at that level the bid increment was $500). In advance, I tried to convince my friend to snipe, but he was nervous doing so, so he placed his VERY high max bid with about 30 seconds left on the clock. That made him the current high bidder at $18,000 hammer. Ten seconds later (with only 20 seconds left), the other serious bidder placed his “max” bid at $20,000 hammer. But lo and behold, that bidder was shocked to see that my friend was still the high bidder, but now at $20,500. With 13 seconds still left, that other guy now had time to place yet another max bid, which he did at $22,000 hammer. But my friends very high max bid placed at 30 seconds was still higher, so my friends bid was still the high bidder, but now at $22,500 hammer, and then the auction ended. Had my friend only placed his initial max bid closer to the end, his competitor would not have had time to place his second “bite at the apple” of $22,000 hammer. My friends very high max bid would have ended up as the high bidder at $20,500 hammer, instead of his actual ending high max at $22,500. My friend ended up paying $2,000 (plus an extra $200 bp) more than he would have had to pay had he properly sniped!
Steve
I almost always snipe on GC but how do you know your friend would have payed less if he sniped? It’s quite possible if your friend and his competitor both sniped with nuclear bids that the selling price may have actually been higher. This is of course speculation on my part and we’ll never know and why hard endings IMHO are not favorable to the seller.
I know my friend paid more than he had to because my friend gave his competitor time to place one extra bid, and the competitor chose to do a max hammer bid of $22,000 on that second one. This was placed by the competitor only after his first bid placed at 20 seconds remaining was at $20,000 max hammer. Had my friend sniped with only 10 seconds or so left, while the competitor would have still placed his initial bid of $20,000 at 20 seconds to go, he would not have had time to see that higher bid of my friend register on GC, and would not have had time to place a new bid at $22,000 max.

The most important game of the year to lose and they screwed that one up too.

Indicative of the times and not a harbinger of doom, in my view. Social media has replaced many in person events. Lots more engagement and information available on-line accessible 24/7.
