Nice opportunity and a great idea about introducing world coin pricing. One thing I can see being a challenge is keeping accurate trends (i.e. sustainment of the initial price guide). Without an ongoing process to collect and update auction pricing, customers will stop trusting the numbers. Although I'm sure you have some ideas about how you would address this potential issue.

Looking forward to using the guide.

I am just curious- what are the limitations of the price guide in terms of countries and time frame?

Wouldn't it make more sense to seek experts in specific areas? For example, Dominic Albert & Raymond Czahor are experts on pricing US-Philippines 1903-1945 and both are listed as contributors to the 65th edition of the Red Book.

If such expert input would be welcome, I'll bother them both with an email to notify them of the opportunity.

Answers to a few questions I received...

    1) Does one need to relocate to California? Living in California is a plus, but not a neccessity

    2) Does this job require a college degree? no

    3) Is this a long-term job? This is a forever job

    4) How current do you want the price guides weekly, biweekly, or monthly? Daily

    6) What kind of software/database would I be working with? We have incredible software developed over last 15 years.

    7) What are the countries and eras of focus for your price guide? 1600 to date most important countries first.

Definitely a fantastic opportunity for somebody.

  • This sounds like a massive undertaking for one person. Maybe more of a team project? Is there a single qualified expert in everything world coins has to offer?

Daily price updates for tens of thousands of world coin varieties sounds optimistic to me....just my thoughts.

It is likely that the expert selected for this will have connections to make it happen

We're probably looking at more than a million prices. I'm guessing that HRH won't require daily updates each one of them.

Just take a deep breath and think about the following:

    German States
    Italian States
France and all the mints that issued the Ecu and 5 FR coins
and then finish it off with 8R Cap and Rays

This will be a major WPA project if there ever was one...

I doubt one person will have the knowledge/capability to really be on top of the pricing for such an enormous range of coins. More realistic is to have one person for each of the more significant countries. Just my 2 cents.
