<< <i>Awesome. Add some fake ones to the collection for comparison. >>
i probably would have done that initially if i had enough images that were of high quality. i'll see what i can dig up since it is for sure a good idea to have a 5th column showing some turds.

My YouTube Channel
had to add images to this one as well.
all my previous links from previous threads regarding images i've uploaded, which are many, are dead. ugh...
Excellent and interesting!!
Thank you for sharing.
This kind of thread is what keeps me coming back.

pretty sure this one is a fake (no V.D.B.)

fwiw yours matches position 2 and the tilt. not all of them have the chip in the upper loop but position 2 does.
i am not confident enough to say 100% yours is ok w/o better and complete images but it isn't an obvious fake imo.
maybe I was thrown off by the tilt of the image. I see you straightened image out and applied grid to it. Thank you.
I agree. Not obviously a fake. And not being represented as a 1909-S V.D.B. either. Why would one add an 's' to a 1909 cent without a V.D.B.? Practice piece? Obviously, the less a counterfeiter has to do to a piece to alter it the better chance it has of escaping detection as a counterfeit.
I recently bought an altered to 19 I4 from 1944 cent. The piece has no 'D.' Workmanship is excellent. No trace of the cross parts of the first 4 can be seen under 10 power magnification. I think it was made as a practice piece, possibly a demo piece.
