Never Mind - Are the CU Forums UNUSUALLY Slow?
I managed to see GoldBully's thread...............
Since late Friday, the forums are taking forever to load while other forums pop up in a snap.
Is something going on?

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

I wasn't going to say anything until later in the day Monday, just in case they were doing something over the weekend. anyway, is anyone around on the weekends to reboot the forum servers?
Hitting stop "X" in Firefox seems to help, page may / may not appear.
Sheesh.
Anytime PCGS wants to upgrade this dinosaur, I'm OK with it.
Side by side old forum / new forum.

I had forgotten the AdBlock Plus and just installed in on my iMac I have had for a couple of years now. The threads literally went from taking 2+ minutes to load, to loading instantaneously! All those horrible ads and Like and Twit and FB buttons can be turned off too which I never use.

i'm sure you guys/gals nailed what was the culprit is but there are several variables to keep in mind.
some off the top of my head.
internet connection speed, dial-up vs wifi vs broadband vs dsl
router, modem, cable length
number of connections for a particular service
hd, ram, video, processor speed
browser type and version
is your pc cluttered with internet junk files or clean
how many broswers you have open and how many tabs, programs, files.
extra installed programs, add-ons
how many installed scripts are running in the background that you don't see also slows down startup. for windows, msconfig will show you these things. just be careful using it.
task manager can help end scripts/progs that are slow or stuck.
is update on for all your programs/browsers?
i'm sure there are some other important things. maybe someone else can add to my list.
.
It's really annoying, to the point where I'm not visiting anymore.

Same here, and another 5 mins just to quote BustHalfBrian's thread to agree wholeheartedly. Matters not whether I use Firefox, Chrome, IE.

With so many experiencing the same slow response I woud think it is somthing on CU's end.
I have the same delay at home and at work. I use IE 10 at home with 5 meg download speed and 8 here at work with 50 meg download speed. No change in delay time.

This tells me that there is something wrong with the ads PCGS is supporting when posters use IE 10. At least, thats the IE Version I have installed.
Of course, this is a very tyouchy subject since it has already been stated by Mr. Willis that anybody found using an AD Blocker will be banned.
I do not want to get banned but if using my current Firefox Installation is the only way to access and post, then I guess I'll have to use it until PCGS gets off their hiney's and gets this problem fixed since I don't really mind the ads.
