<< <i>If those SE's were offered to me, I'd expect a $1.00 or more discount per coin to the white coin price. >>
Sadly, I paid $10 above spot for the lot...oh well...win some, lose some.

aww man! I'm going to run back up to the show and see if I can get a refund. I knew I shouldn't have pulled the trigger. Thanks for the feedback.

I hope you're joking. There are some sweet looking toners in that group. Some are questionable, to be sure- but I'm looking at a few that look like winners.

I agree there are some are questionable, to be sure... it looks like the coin sets next to the ASE's have toning on them as well??
I have completed positive sales and purchses from the following members:
jclovescoins, dpoole, dmarks, guysmiling, Ducky1100 , piecesofme, ericj96 ,Classof67, ModernCoin, MrOrganic, 53BKid, nychad10, GUINZO1975, derryb (3 times), PinkFloyd

Yes,4 sets with nice mint set toning on 1964 coins. Target toned rainbows.

I feel the same way about die varities on half dimes and dimes, but I don't go make it a point to post a "yawn" in threads about them.
For the OP....there are some that look interesting and may pan out well.
Most don't look like $10 above spot was that great, but, with any rise in silver, you can be bailed out
3 I see that would be interesting to view with better photos, would be (in the 1st photo):
bottom row, 3rd and 4th from left.
3rd row, 2nd and 3rd (maybe add 4th) from left.
Not sure which ones braddick was thinking about
I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

<< <i>$10 over spot, EACH?
Thought you meant ten over on the total.
You know, it's really pretty easy to make those yourself, if you want those colors.
You'd save a lot of $$ that way. >>
Thanks for our comment! But no, I would rather buy them naturally toned, as these are. If you've seen as many NT toned ASEs as I have over the years (which you may have!), you know what these .999 silver bullion coins can do when stored in plastic, paper, envelopes, albums, etc. These are the real deals. I am excited to post the good pics when finished.

<< <i>You are entitled to your opinion, as I am entitled to mine. I have studied toning quite extensively, since in my collecting area toning is one of the last things that Chinese are not able to completely fake, yet. I have seen effects of sulfur, bleach, heat, anodizing, etc... To my eye, based on the quality of images posted, there are at least 6 coins with toning that can be easily re-created. >>
Then you know some of those very items on your list can be inadvertantly/accidentally subjected to a coin and result in "natural" and "market acceptible" toning. Hence, you and I are not really disagreeing.
Eric
Some had black foam around the coin, some plain
The one that you imaged.......was it in one of the plastic capsules with the black foam ring around it?
I am going to guess, as I have seen many of these in dealers cases, some are stored
In after market plastic cardboard and then they remove them and place it it the capsules
without the black ring. The more wild and toning pattern that is tight and close to the
edge of the coin usually were stored in the capsules with the black foam ring. Also in PCI
holders.
IMO the one imaged is NT but it doesn't mean it will slab
Until people start understanding that .999 silver toned much differently and quicker than
Morgan's toned ASE's will always be questionable and not appreciated......
......but it's only my two cents.

I am aware of .999 vs. .900, but I am speaking to the spread of patterns and appearances shown. There is this, there is that. Lots of the different looks. Rim tone, crescent (Whats with that? They were in holders long term, or not?), the various colors - all represented and "nicely" - questionable out of a tight group like that, IMHO.
Best wishes,
Eric

Exactly. I did mention was I bought these at a coin show. From a dealer's case. He told me he put them in these holders after collecting them himself (he likes toned Eagles) from different sellers all year long. He had another 100 or so I passed on for one reason or another.

I think you are asking why there are so many different toning patterns such as crescent, rim and full coin toning?
If this is what your asking then it is just like Morgans, they don't tone all the same way.
It depends how it was stored, just like the ASE's
Here are a few different toning patterns
After market holder
PCI holder
Clear plastic capsule with black foam ring.
After market holder " birth year"
This one is a graded proof in an old ANACS holder
Still in the PCI slab
After market holder
One of those blue plastic slabs, I forget the name
This one was in a capsule with a foam black ring, beautiful but not sure if it will slab
In the original mint box, no capsule
There are my examples, I hope this helps

Ya some , just like Morgan tone butt ugly
Not all Morgan toners are winners, there are more than enough beyond ugly toners but are more excepted by
the collector community because they feel it's old toning.
