Sad News - Brooklyn Dealer Steve Halfon Murdered

Today was met with sad news in NYC. Brooklyn Dealer Steve Halfon was murdered after closing up his shop last night. I didn't know him that well, but know that several people here did. Thoughts and prayers are with his family tonight.

On a side note, Steve was known to carry a lot of cash on him a lot (if not most) of the time. This serves as a reminder to be careful. Coin shops are a ripe target for low-lifes, especially with the price of silver and gold being soo high right now.

Whoops - didn't see the original post. I searched his last name in the search bar and came up empty so I figured it wasn't posted yet.

In broad daylight no less. It sounds like there are plenty of witnesses, so hopefully the will get a break in the case.

Im sure this could happen anywhere in America, but if I owned a B&M again it wouldn't be in a big city. Prayers go out to his family. Such a tragedy.

As well as being aware of your surroundings at all times.

    Very sad story.

My sympathies to his family and immediate friends. A terrible loss for them and the local coin community. As a native of N.Y. and growing up in brooklyn and queens, I know that area very well. 2011 has been a very bad year for the coin community at large. We have lost more than just a few. As much as I miss the business, this year alone has made me somewhat grateful I retired when I did.
