I just submitted three, at full price, with First Strike and the extra price for the larger holders....at the Baltimore show!

I'm usually on the side of just about everything PCGS does but this one, this time.....who really has five of these sitting around? Also, for those of us who got the first three already this year, it's pretty likely we've already submitted them at one of the early shows, like I did, at full price.

Plus, for a family like ours where everyone has a membership, realistically.......this is one special that not everyone (likely just one of us) would have made use of during the quarter.

Don, no real complaining here. I'm sure a lot of thought went into it. Is there any way to change it to a "submit 2 get 1?" and, if so, for those of us who brought their three to Baltimore with the P mark, any chance of us getting in on it, if this is reconsidered?

  • Does anybody know if it also can be used for re-grade?

I also assume no need to pay for First strike if it's already on the slab?

    I'm thinking to re-grade one Amark set with this one so it will be $20*4 + $14*4 + $8 + S/H

What a shame, I was hoping the special would be "submit one 1879 or 1880 Coiled Hair Stella for Secure Plus grading, and get a proof Bust Dollar graded for free"

I have the first three 2010-P's already issued
and today, I ordered the fourth. The last one,
Mount Hood, is due to be sold starting 7/28.

Once I receive that one, I'll hand deliver all five
to PCGS at the Chicago ANA.

Bummer, definitely will not be using this one... especially with the extra $20/coin big holder fee!! At least they give you the big holder fee as part of the special on the 5th coin though.

The only bright side to the special for me is that there's a very very small chance that it might help me sell my set of 5 coins... but I doubt it.

Here's a thought; How many people would renew their PCGS memberships if they didn't include the free submissions?

I really wish they would stop the "1/4ly specials" altogether, they really are an insult to ones intelligence.

I wish PCGS would offer choices or just a generic special... submit 4 for 3... $25 off... something useful to more than just a very, very small handful or members.

I very much appreciate the quarterly specials that PCGS so generously provides to C.C. members, but this makes two in a row that I won't/can't use.
    When in doubt, don't.

I was very close to renewing my membership and was waiting to see what the special would be; I do see it as a value added benefit. Needless to say, I won't be renewing at this point, not that anyone cares... I'm just sayin image

I much preferred the prior quarterly specials and actually dug through my stash to find coins for grading.
PCGS made out on me almost every quarter (even though it was free), as I always found a few more to send
in. A waste to only send one in the box. Always added more.

Haven't used the newer special once yet.

Me, too. I always looked forward to the new quarter to see what the next special would be. It hasn't been much fun, nor useful, lately...

I sent my submissions in for the last quarterly special just yesterday , i was gonna wait till i heard what this quarter would bring , now im glad i didn't. There is no way i could have used this one image

Brain fart. Or intentional...the beginning of the end to free submissions.
    Lance.
  • I do not see myself using this one, either. The things are too hard to find to collect--coming from a guy who recently got a Charlotte mint Classic quarter eagle. The pucks are a bit too niche. Even if I got one, I doubt I would get five raw, in need of grading.

Actually, at $200, you get 8 submissions at the regular level. You can even select secure on the form when submitting. So you get 8 coins of your choosing in a secure holder...for $200. If that's not a good enough 'quarterly special' than I don't know what is. That's quite a lot for $200.00. If we're basing whether we join or not solely on their quarterly specials, I think PCGS would not require membership to submit coins for grading. image

And I agree with slipgate, at this rate, they should probably just do away with quarterly specials. I mean, until they cater to everybody, they are sort of pointless? But I have used two in the last two years.
  • claychaserclaychaser Posts: 4,406 ✭✭✭✭
I'd gladly swap the 4 quarterlies with an extra 2 freebies on the 8 coin voucher. By the time you pay the return postage and handling on the single coin quarterly, the only coins that seem to make sense are gold coins.

I'm still looking for some "Oh Wow! What a Great Opportunity!" replies.
I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

  • Finally a quarterly special that I can use. Thank you PCGS!
