Apologies to our hosts for the title to the previous thread... A naive and honest mistake on my part.

Any many thanks to the folks who responded in that thread...

My Newp for the weekend:

There are a few hits here and there but I love the overall look of the coin and the toning for the grade!

Congrats again on the pickup. Just an fyi, during the course of the CSNS show no less than three people commented that they were looking for a nice midgrade (VF-XF) example of this date for their 7070. The first year type set is gaining momentum and your coin is a spectacular example for the year. Congrats!

That's a great example. Finding an attractive, mid-grade 1840 is much more difficult than many realize. Congrats!

image You can say that again! (I guess I just did.) A difficult coin to find, and in more demand as a first-year-of-issue coin.

Great catch, Jeff. I was tempted to bid but I couldn't justify it. I'm glad it went to a good home.

I see a green XXX sticker on it. That doesn't hurt! Nice.

Love that coin. Nice and original. I would like it even better cracked out and in an album!
There is no "AT" or "NT". We only have "market acceptable" or "not market acceptable.

We've considered putting together a low-grade set in an old Wayte Raymond album, jeff is just lucky we haven't started it yet image

Your timing could not have been better, Mark! image

Truth be told, I probably wouldn't have this coin if it weren't for some guidance from Speety!

Thanks Lance and I'm glad that someone from this forum was able to pick it up... If not me, then you.

If I had not landed this one I was leaning towards picking up a 1854-O Three Dollar Gold example for my New Orleans type set.

I'm very happy with the choice I made...
