oh well now the mint will want to recall all those too lol. And the search continues, does look kinda cool noticed it look like coins from the mint rolls not the banks. Will see : }
I have a sealed roll like that from the US Mint with a WDDR-002 on one end, and a WDDR-003 on the other. It was listed for about two months for $300 and didn't get an offer. Good luck to that dolt.

Hi pitboss. I remember you on the earlier threads for these errors. I realize that even though 70+ of these have been discovered, the CDDR-001, CDDR-002, & CDDR-009 stand out from the rest. I was the first to submit the CDDR-009 to Billy Crawford so that one is special to me. I have around 200+ of the three above and it has been fun going through the rolls. A CDDR-009 in ANACS-67 recently sold on Teletrade for $60 I believe.
I have a roll with the DDR 002 on both ends. I also have about 20 U.S. Mint Collector Roll boxes with these DDRs. Time will only tell what they will be worth. The fact is they are DDRs no matter how many exist and it doesn't happen all the time on the Lincoln Cent especially on the 100th Anniversary of the Lincoln Cent.
I just think these are more significant than other double dies of recent times. The Minnesota extra trees are a tiny and confusing feature to see on a state quarter where a bunch of arrows are needed to point out what is going on. There is no personal identification with that either. With the Formative Years cents, we are talking about an extra finger on Abraham Lincolns hand. To me that is interesting and something that collectors may appreciate in years to come. Regardless of what some people say, you don't need a microscope to see it either. Regarding the fact that there are 75+? Well 65 of them look practically the same to me and are pretty insignifcant. But with CDDR-001 you have the "Extra Thumb", with CDDR-002 the "Extra Finger" and CDDR-009 the "Skeleton Finger". With the CDDR-009 also being paired with the CDD0-002 and in my opinion it being the most dramatic of the varieties, it stands out from the rest of the crowd. See link:
With the millions of Lincoln cent collectors I think in time they may be interested in the three mentioned extra finger varieties (and certainly more or different varieites) when more dust settles and certainly if some of the guides out there will list the major varieties. Indeed time will tell and in the mean time the hunt has been fun.
can you tell me were these mostly found in the mint sets or did anyone find in a regular p roll from the bank? i like that you can see it easily.. .............
....i understand they were found in rolls and most anywhere.

Humm .. actually they were not found in every LP2 set or dated boxes .. many dealers and collectors chased around to figure these things out .. I found out pretty fast once I received mine. Lucky me. An indivdual even found some in fed rolls but it was limited to only a couple new finds after 50+ other small dots and lines where already found proir. I personally like the original extra (Sixth) finger and double thumb the best because #1 & #2. To me the skeleton stuff looks like the die had already died althogether LOL get it! The TIME STAMP was more important and KEY then just the DATE(s) .. if anyone cares to footnote or reference that after I sell out. Just let me know if your interested .. you can either Paypal me $50 and I will tell you the best date and time boxes I found with the most per roll or If anyone wants to purchase some high graders ... I saved the best for last! PS - NO ridicious low ball offers please! Thanks

I forgot all my box dates as I did not write them down but I do remember 4/17 and 4/30 being very good for WDDR 001 and 2, 4/23 for 009. I still have a bunch of these boxes unopened( I don.t even know if they are the right numbers or not) ,that I paid way too much money for, that I will open when these things take off.
Good luck with your 4/27 box. I hope you hit a home run. Steve

Some Personal Thoughts on the 2009 Lincoln FY DDR Varieties
These coins have HUGE upside potential. In the 2009 Edition of Yeomen’s Redbook alone, there are over 30 different varieties of Lincoln Cents noted since 1959. Most of these are fairly minor varieties such as large or small dates, or “close” AM’s. While these are all very interesting – the collector has to know what they are looking for to make a find. They would not be obvious to the uninformed person.
Obvious “extra appendage-type” varieties of Lincoln Cents are relatively rare. The 1984 “doubled-ear” caused quite a stir at the time, and is currently listed in the Redbook for $250. These are currently selling for $150-200 each. There are likely other obscure varieties as well – but these will be even less-known to the average collector.
Now I’m not suggesting the “six-finger” variety will be a $100+ coin in 10 years, but I do believe it will have a significant place in Lincoln Cent history. It is said there are “too many” of these DDR sub-varieties in 2009 for real significance – and that may be partially true. But there are about 3-5 of these varieties that are both significant in ease of IDENTITY and in sufficient QUANTITY that many average collectors can own.
Varieties of Significant Interest: (The following are personal observations I am sharing based on the 200+ US Mint LP2 Mint boxes I have personally searched and carefully tabulated.)
2009 FY CDDR-002 “sixth-finger”: Most will agree that it is one of the most popular varieties. It is scarcer than the CDDR-001, and most obvious for identification. (and a WAY COOL factor)
2009 FY CDDR-001 “doubled-thumb”: One of the most common varieties, I have found about 2 CDDR-001’s for every 1 CDDR-002 coins in rolls that contain both. They are easy to identify, and also COOL.
2009 FY CDDR-006 “skeleton-finger”: A longer finger version of the CDDR-002, this variety has been found only in one specific date of mint roll boxes, and was presumably struck in far fewer numbers. (WAY COOL and scarcer)
There are many more varieties that deserve attention in this series, but most require a fair degree of close magnification and study for identification. In my opinion, the above three varieties will be the most popular in the long run.
As for inclusion in popular coin references -- keep hounding PCGS and J.T. Stanton (Cherrypickers Guide) for inclusion in their attributions. [I have conversed with Stanton on these -- he is watching -- but is waiting to see overall collector interest before moving forward]
All I can say is HAVE FUN with this STILL-FINDABLE modern variety! Isn't that what the "hunt" is all about?

Thank you Wayne for you insight on these coins. The three coins you mention are indeed great coins. As I have previously mentioned, we here on the forum, have found the greatest amount of these coins and do not realize exactly what we have. There are millions of Lincoln coin collectors out there that don't even know about them. We need to get them out in front of their faces so they do. Do your part, call PCGS, call NGC, call ANACS, call anyone that you will feel will help get these coins off dead center I am!!
no doubt thanks to everyone for all the information. wish i would have found this site alot earlier but glad i finally did as there is just soooooo much info i found a pair of the wisconsin quarters sent them in and got back ms65 pcgs, so i have always loved the hunt to get lucky and find a nice ones to put away. First box should be here tomorrow and i feel like a kid in front of a locked candy store lol thks everyone

I agree, I also have found 2-1 ratio 'double thumb" to "sixth finger"
I have not found any "skeleton" fingers but bought 5 just to have a few.
Since these coins were discovered, it's been a race to the bottom.
EBAY sellers constantly shoot themselves in the foot rather than establishing a floor for trading and possibly taking these coins higher.
I remember as these were discovered and sales started to occur for raw coins, first in the $49-$59 and up range, then some bozo came it at $29 and blew some out.
Then then next idiot shows up and sells about 10 more at $19 or less and that's it.
It was down to $5 from there and no one wanted them.
These are done. Stick a fork in them. Everyone knows the gig, and save for ANACS, no other TPG really cares to recognize the DDR on their labels.
I agree that for a new discovery like this there should have a certain floor asking price to help establish a market for these coins since there obviously was none before they were discovered. However, human nature for many and especially on eBay is to make a quick buck and it is pretty much inevitable that people started undercutting others with lower prices. But for those like myself, I never sold into those undercutting prices and have held back. I would rather keep the coins than give them away. Plus I am truly more of a "collector" and not a "flipper". Just because they are selling right now on eBay for $5-12 (for The Big Three) doesn't mean that can't turn on a dime in a day. But I would just like these varieties to get some respect with the coin guide books out there. That is how a market for these coins can be slowly built and established. The wackiness on eBay isn't the place to do it. Lastly, I really do not have an idea why a TPG like PCGS would label the speared bisons and the Minnesota extra trees, but not recognize these coins as DDR's when respectable variety experts in this field have identified them as such. It is still very early in the history of these doubled dies and I am hopeful that in time there will be more interest.
Ok first the candy store is still locked lol no package today, ok since i have learned of this coin i can say the price is going up on ebay for the lpn2 boxes, i think the biggest problems with this coin is it has so many variations, compared to the wisconsin high leaf low leaf and speared buffolo plus i thought the amount of wisconsin were around 40,000 or so, i am one to believe this coin will be reconized by pcgs sooner or later and it will depend on how many of these are out there. i have belonged to another coin website for the past 2 yrs and there is no one even talking about these i have mentioned it to a few others who now scooping up the last of the 20 dollar sets. patience and time will tell what really value these coins have, and as a error collector i just hope i can add these to my others..........
<< <i>Today I opened up 5 boxes of 4/17 , both 9883 and 9774, times from 8:12 to 13:59 , got 30 WDDR 002's and 12 WDDR 001's.
Hope that is a help to you Tommy. >>
And why do people think these will gain value when for $150-200 for 5 boxes you can get 42 of the "prime" errors. Sounds like less than $5 each to me...
I will add I have HUNDREDS of these both graded and ungraded. It was fun looking for them and worth the price of the boxes for that adventure. Where the money was wasted was in getting any graded...that will never be recouped.
Tommy....enjoy the search. It is fun..... but DO NOT get dollar signs in your eyes.....
BTW...Wexler errors now number 98 DDR's from Phily, 15 from Denver and 4 San Fran's
That's 117 different varieties of this one cent coin (as of March 5th anyway)
And why do people think these will gain value when for $150-200 for 5 boxes you can get 42 of the "prime" errors. Sounds like less than $5 each to me... since i have been watching i have seen 1 box from 4/17 and it went for over 30 bucks, all the other boxes i got are from 4/27 2 and 4/30 1 so there maybe no errors in these boxes, sooner or later all the 4/17 boxes will be opened and there will be a final tally as soon as some of the other grading companies open it up, let face it i thought the wisconsin quarter ended up with more than 40,000 and washington smooth edge there were over 100 thousand of those thats a great find pitboss and its because you were paying attention at the right time as an error collectior half the fun is in finding them the other half is when they finally get graded, wheres my mailman ? lol

I used to be famous now I just collect coins.
