I think it's a Type B ... and a YN guessing game

pursuitoflibertypursuitofliberty Posts: 7,161 ✭✭✭✭✭
I went through some silver that I took in trade this morning before work, and I think this might be a Type B ...

Am I correct?

Oh, and to make this more fun, the first young YN (let's stay with the 14 and under group) to correctly guess
the DATE can have her ... one guess per YYN please. image

edit with a somewhat better picture

True, but it is still a type B unless it is a circulated proof B/A xxxx class III doubled die, some of which had a close ES.

Edited to remove trhe date since I am over 14, Very doubtful it was that date anyway.

Generic Answer for a No Date Coin = Yes, that is in fact the Type B Reverse.

I decided to change calling the bathroom the John and renamed it the Jim. I feel so much better saying I went to the Jim this morning.

    The name is LEE!

If you guys saw the first pictures you would have agreed that it looked like a regular quarter. Yes it is a type b after the revised photos.

  • <<The separation in ES is obvious when you have the coin in hand. At times pictures are deceptive and especially in that apparent gap width. If the gap is there, the tail of the S does not rise as high above the bottom bar of E. Sometimes that fearure is more obvious than the gap in pictures.>>

That was in our latest table of pickup points.

    Where are all the YYN's anyway ... I can't believe I haven't even got a guess???!!

I even posted this on the Giveaway Board

Somebody has to know a YN that might be interested ...

On a side note, I took the rest of the silver I had taken in trade down to my local dealer yesterday ... always fair with me
(got about 11.88). I talked with his youngest boy a little ... man I feel old taking with that kid ... I remember first meeting
him when he was maybe 8 or 9 (??? about 17 years ago) ... he's about 6'10+ now ... sharp as a tack, quiet and personable,
friendly ... he's going to be a good businessman I think ... and got to talk to my favorite of the employees.

I also got to examine a very, VERY nice 1878-CC Quarter in P65, totally original and unmolested, Awesome looking piece for those
who like relatively dark original surfaces. A little pricey for my blood given it's a series/range I don't really collect, but still really neat
to look at her for a bit.

I picked up a copy of Looking Through Lincoln Cents (what ever happened to Chuck anyway??) for my youngest (he just turned 14),
    but no NEWP's.

I think yours is the first guess and very logical. 1957 might be the most common B.
  • That's what I figured, as it doesn't look modern and 1957 is the most common date for Type B's.
