.

I ordered a spouse coin (non coin, bullion, pos, whatever) today. I used my credit card, it will expire 4/09. But as I expect them to ship long before April is over, I saw no problem.

Then, today in the mail, I get my new card, with a new expiration date.

If I activate this new card, which I should do immediately, that means that the date I gave the US Mint is wrong. And that may mean that when payment time comes around, my order will have a problem.

I ask the forum a lightweight question. Do I need to give them a call and update my credit card information? The number is the same, but the expiration date is not.

I hesitate to try and make it through the phone tree right now with all of the UHR folks clogging the system. But perhaps the person on the other end of the line will be grateful to talk to someone who has a real, solvable problem and is also not upset with them.

Sorry I cannot come up with a Longacre class of question. This is the best I can do right now.

it is simple, give the mint a call and the customer service rep can update the info.

I don't think you'll be able to do it online since the Order History stuff is down. You will probably need to call the Mint, but it's pretty painless to do. And if you call them up and say I need to make a change to my credit card for an order, they will probably ask you if it's to change an expiration date right off the bat... image

Done. Thanks for the prompt reply. It did not occur to me to even see if the US Mint website had this feature. Silly me.

It's not in the order history. It's in the "edit my account" feature.

The page looks Very Ugly with lots of ???questionmarks??? everywhere. But it worked!

just do it online, your card probably hasn't even been hit yet. even if it has, the card is attached to the account and not the order.

I think that only changes the card you have on file for when you do a quick checkout. You will still need to call them to change the card for that actual order.

In that case, i'll wait until the order jams in the system. No rush on a spouse, I assure you.

Perhaps the system is smart enough to pick up on my simple change. I'll see.

[edit] Come to think of it, why did I even ask this question? Perhaps I just like to hear myself post.

I know this as fact having been through it myself:
The card you use when you place the order stays with that order until you call the mint and change the card for that order. If you use five different cards for five orders each order will be charged to the card you used for that order. Because of card limits I use three different credit cards and I know for a fact that the one used at the time of the order stays with that order until you change it over the phone for that order. The cards do not affect other orders. Again, card used at time of order applies to that order and no other orders unless it was used for other orders. Each order is treated separately when it comes to credit cards.

Adam, activate the card, then call the mint with the order number and give them the new card info. Make sure any future purchases reflect the new card info.

    *sigh*.

Spoken with the authority of someone who knows how the system works.

    Okay. Thanks, will do.
