  • Depends on who you ask.

If someone has a high rating, they will say that 10 is better.

If someone has a low rating, they will say 1 is better. image

Well, I think 1 is best.. No offense to those with high ratings, mine is 2.50.image

That is the problem with it. It was never sufficiently explained so it is one of those vestigial forum features that means nothing and which most folks just ignore. Me and another member and some other folks on the old Open Forum got into a humorous "vote bombing" contest years ago to see who could trash the other ones' ratings the worst, and then I just turned mine off.

  • I have a time zone adjust stat of -8.0... is that good? image
  • Not sure so i gave you a 5! image

  • I would say that 5 is just right...

    anything under is too conservative...

    anything over is too liberal...

but 5...now that is just right...

I just rated you a 10. Not sure what it meant, but now your rating is 3.2.
  • I've always kinda wondered who even bothers to give other people ratings...

I think it is a wonderfully cruel joke on numismatists.

Give them a rating system; a numeric ranking system. But don't say what rank is best. That'll drive 'em nuts trying to figure it out.

When I've given out ratings, just because, I have used 1 as the low
(btw...I haven't given you a rating yet, you are welcome to bid for one image )

I've been told I tolerate fools poorly...that may explain things if I have a problem with you. Current ebay items - Nothing at the moment

Bo Derek was the original 10 so 10 is good.

Absolutely no sarcasm meant nor intened. You are spot on, I have not read every post, but I've probably read 90%. Still believe your contributions far outweigh possible mistakes in the past. I just can't find one. {Don't look at mine}.

You are and have been an asset to this forum and I'll debate you on that one any day of the week.

We are fortunate to have many posters with a level head and knowledge that never ceases to amaze me. I believe you are one. JMO. Take Care, jws.

  • A couple of years ago, I started a thread asking the same question. A bunch of people said they were not sure, but would give me a 1. I got about 10 #1s from that thread, so my rating has never been above a 4 since. Of course everyone was having fun with me, and I considered the whole thing pretty funny myself.

    Nope, Bo was an 11.

The "user rating" needs to be changed. Where there is no explanation, 1 is the default rating and this skews all ratings because some of us have hit the "enter" button before we knew what we were doing. Sorry to some of you whom I've 'skewed' because of this default.

I have no idea if "1" or "10" is best or worst. All I know is that I've made enough comments about over priced modern coins to put me in some people's dog house forever. image

I guess having a rating of somewhere around 5 is a good thing. It shows that you are probably useful to the board and yet not a lapdog. At least that's the way I can rationalize it since I'm at 5.47. image

In recent years I have been working on a set of British coins - at least one coin from each king or queen who issued pieces that are collectible. I am also collecting at least one coin for each Roman emperor from Julius Caesar to ... ?

A "This Is Spinal Tap" fan? That is the only part of the show I've seen and have made a note to see the rest.

I gave everyone I could a "10" (only because there was no 11).

I was told you are perfect if you have a 5 rating.

i.e. half will choose 1 as best and the other half will choose 10 as best.
