Please give me your grade assessment of these 10 Proof Jefferson Nickels.

keetskeets Posts: 25,351 ✭✭✭✭✭
I know the pictures aren't the best, but give me your grade assessment of the 10 Coins pictured below. The 1941 and 1956 Proofs are toned so I took an angled picture of those two. Other than that the pictures are simple with overhead lighting, shot straight-on with nothing done afterwards except cropping/sizing. Thanks in advance.

The ones that would be worthwhile I think are the 41 or is it 41's?
The 54 is a sure shot cam and possibly even ucam at NGC.
The 59 I believe would go cam, iffy on the reverse.
The rest after the 59 are easy cam, but very common and you could probably pick up some nice one already slabbed that wouldn't cost too much a premium.
All in all nice bunch. I say stick with slabbing the 41, 54 and 59 and you'll do ok.

I'm picking the 59... that's the one I like. And since I know what this is about, I'll pass on grading this time.

    An old post.

What did your grades look like?

What's your thoughts on this piece? Sratches on holder. Does the reverse need conservation?

Making me jealous with a few of those Keets.

    1941 - PR64
    1953 - PR65CAM
    1954 - PR66DCAM
    1956 - PR66
    1959 - PR67CAM
    1963 - PR66DCAM
    1968 - AMAAZZZING! - PR69DCAM
    1970 - PR67CAM
    1970 - PR67CAM
    1971 - PR67DCAM

Of course all of those grades are +/- 2 points for invisible hairlines.

EDIT - LOL - didn't look at the post date...that 1957 is great BG...I'd say 67CAM with a shot at DCAM.

    My 2 cents worth:

    41 - PF64
    53 - PF65
    54 - PF66CAM
    56 - PF65
    59 - PF65CAM
    63 - PF66CAM
    68S - PF67DCAM
    First 70S - PF67CAM
    Second 70S - PF66DCAM
    71S - PF66CAM

    Was I even remotely close?

Not my series, but based on the images I'll guess:

    1941---65
    1953---67
    1954---68 CAM
    1956---67
    1959---67
    1963---67 CAM
    1968---68 CAM
    1970---67 CAM
    1970---68 CAM
    1971---67 CAM

I did not see the other thread with the posted grades at the time I gave my grade opinions earlier today.

Interesting that my grade opinions of today, 4-3-2011, matched 7 out of 10 of Mirabella's grade opinions posted on 5-25-2008, almost 3 years ago.

Interesting also that I nailed 3 out of 10 grades [the 1954, 1968 and the second 1970]; and that my other seven grades were all LOWER than the grades assigned by PCGS. I must have subconsciously been harsher grading from pictures [where blemishes appear to be present which either are not present on the coin in hand, or are not as noticeable when viewing the coin in hand]. Or maybe I am, for these ten nickels, just stricter than PCGS for this one day.

Superb Jeffs with a lot of CAM on many . .but even though these are a pet series, I don;t feel qualified to assess them through these images. But they are NICE !!! I'd love to own them!
