I bought the most amasing thing at the Long Beach show today!!!!

I was looking at the various coins today at the show and my husband, bored as usual insists that I come now and look at this microscope camera.
I thought that he was pulling me away so I don't spend any more money but.....
OMG.... this is the best darn thing I have purchased in a long time.
Its portable or you can put it on an adjustable stand.
My eyes aren't what they used to be so its great!
I can zoom out and look at the entire coin on the monitor. Or zoom in
to see very close.
I took some very quick pictures and wanted to share this with you.
I never recommend thing because it usually bites me in the a$$
But it this case its worth checking it out.
There website iswww.bigc.com
I paid $200 for this particular model.
For those attending the show I think its worth checking out the booth tomorrow.

I would think that is about as clear and as close as it gets.
That really is amazing.

<< <i>Will a PCGS Slab fit under the dome?
Thanks, GrandAm
No, but I believe she's using it without the dome in the third picture, suspending it in some manner.
Well, heck. I'm impressed!
<< <i>Will a PCGS Slab fit under the dome?
Thanks, GrandAm
In the first pictures I rested the plastic dome on the plastic nickel holder. An entire slab will not fit under. But you just rest it op top. You can take the camera out of the holder and place it directly over the coin or slab.
I included pictures of a PCGS slab. First I rested the plastic stand over the slab. Then I removed it a placed it directly on the slab and the last picture is with all the plastic holders gone and resting the unit itself on the slab with the most magnification.

<< <i>Wow, for what do you need a loupe if you have one of those. Which model did you purchase? I see that there are several listed. >>
The microscope camera came in one box and the stand was $20 more.
The show price was $180 for the microscope camera and $20 for the stand.
The first two pictures is the scope box w/model #
the rest is the stand box pictures.

On this page there is a comparison chart on the different models.
I also like some of the other stands better than the one the OP received. Would allow you to shoot any slab...

So once you bring up the photo on the screen, can you save the screenshot as a .jpeg? I assume it gives you that capability correct????

<< <i>Thats great but i'll tell you what I use and it's a lot cheaper. If you have a telescope, take the eyepiece out and put it in front of the lens of your cam, adjust for distance and magnification and snap:
>>
I used to use a high school microscope and take pictures with my camera but you have to have a very steady head.

Thanks for the photos Stefanie
Could you do me a favor if you get time. Take close up photos of a gemstone, preferably a colored stone that may have some inclusions to see. Any ring you have at the show would be fine. I'm wondering how well the light penetrates into the stone since many gemstones often need a back lighting or strong front lighting. Just curious
Thanks
