I just ordered a couple more sets. I asked the order taker if he knew what the final mintage for the sets might be, he said "there is word only 10,000 mintage, but the actual amount is up to Congress, they are the ones who tell us to stop making them"-----------BigE
You can't knock buying at mint issue price and selling at those prices.
I would rather buy striaght from the mint than at those prices off e-bay. I think what we see with the 1 oz price is why the 4-coin sets are not sold out. The real demand is for the fractionals, and some folks would rather put out the extra $100-$300 over bullion buying those, and spending the full amount for the 4-coin set.
The two sets I ordered Sat. night went to in stock and reserved status. The individual fractionals that I ordered a month ago keep getting pushed back into February.

I ordered 2pc. 1/2 and 1pc. 1/4 on 12/19/06....shipped on 12/27/06.
I'd call the mint and mention my story....that is, if you get a CSR that is concerned!!

I think they are making the sets a priority to get out the door to get the bigger money. Looks like the individual fractionals will have to wait in the meantime.
They look great! I find it easier to guess a grade on the ounce and 1/2 ounce (both 70) and more difficult to guess on the 1/4 and 1/10 ounce. I guess the design clutters up the coin and confuses my fragile eggshell mind.
I put one in cart and checked out... at check out it said product not available but it let me place order anyway. It gave me an order number but when I check on order status it said no longer available and also said SHIPPED!!!(That's a good one-- a glitch in the system somewhere)
Sent all my fractionals to PCGS for grading... was left a message today that the grades are in(I sent in through a dealer for bulk) I'll know tomorrow if good or bad... keeping fingers crossed!!

The morons they have working there...yeah, Congress actually stops what they are doing to pass a law telling the mint to stop production.

I guess that is New Math.
Recent Raw Sales
1/10 oz $175
1/4 oz $275
1/2 oz $500
1 oz $650
Even allowing $100 for e-bay and Paypal fees, that is still a 20% profit with low risk and very short tie up of funds.
You clearly regret not buying these. You are all over the threads about the 2006 gold/silver/platinum coins, always putting them down.

Is it too late for First Strikes? >>
The "W" golds didn't have FS. (except for the 1oz way back in the day of 3 and 2-coin sets)
They, for a short time, had Anniversay labels, but that is not available anymore.
Bottom line. Nothing special.
While they are commanding a decent premium, they are not bringing in the big bucks that so many on this forum are touting.
The NGC MS69's are barely bringing in more than Mint cost!!
Are the total mintage #'s on these going to be low enough to command big collector appeal?
Are we all gambling on PCGS grading our precious Uncs as MS70's?
Well, I now own 4 AGE sets and 6 fractionals to boot.
Tell me why I should buy more, other than to sell them out for my forum friends.
