Charity Auction and Drive Numbers - Last Page - NEW RECORD SET!

In an effort to keep things simple I basically have condensed two seperate threads into One. This will be the Official Coin Auction thread associated with our Charity Drive. The Charity Drive is on the link on my sig line. Coins will be posted and bid on here. Bidding has now begun, so bid away and if you have something you'd like to add by all means, feel free. Among some of the items to be auctioned is a day of sailing (a $500 pkg) on Outhaul's charter.

I WILL TRY TO KEEP THE AUCTION LIVE AND AT LEAST ON THE LAST PAGE

THE CHARITY THREAD IS ON MY SIG LINE AND IS ALSO UP TO DATE !!

If your Name is on the Master list of Donors (ON MY SIG LINE) you are eligible for a giveaway donated by hiyosilver for a very nice PCGS 67 Washington Quarter along with all future giveaways.

The way to get on that Master List is either by donating to the Drive, donating coins to be auctioned here, auctioning them off yourselves on eBay or another venue of choice or sending them to me to sell or auction off.

I DO NOT EXPECT anything from anyone. This is all being done on a voluntary basis.

I appreciate all that everyone has done and all that you continue to do for this most worthy cause. image

Thank you One and All.

Thanks Boom. I purchased a 1/2 Dime from Cladiator as an upgrade for my Type Setimage So, this 1831 1/2 Dime is a dupe, and I'm auctioning it here. I was just thinking about running it for a week and highest bidder wins it. All proceeds to go to "The Boom Foundation". These are just some quick thoughts of mine and please add yours. If anyone else would like to do the same, please do. It's for a very worthy cause. Heres my pic's of the coin:

Beautiful coin and very generous of you besides giving a fellow member the chance to bid on it here and thereby be included in the present giveaway being conducted by hiyosilver exclusively for those who have donated. He is handling that part of it. If a person's Name is on the Master list they automatically are eligible for all such giveaways.....sorta keeps everything in house.image

  • Mr. Lee and LeeG, you are in the drawing for the pcgs ms washington!image

I think anyway the forum members like to help is cool. The forum auctions make it simple to keep track of members in the drawing for me.

As much as I love the idea of keeping this to "ourselves", I believe that the auction would bring more action on the 'Bay and net the charity more money.

    JMHO
  • BoomBoom Posts: 10,165
BlindedBy Ego, I appreciate your opinion but this way there are no eBay fees, no time line (3 day, 5 day etc) and other members can add items without eBay hitting us up for all the exrtra fees. JMHO. However, if this fails to work out here we may very well end it and run it on eBay. We'll try and see how it goes.

Last year one was conducted here and everyone came away quite satisfied. The more items we add will make a difference and besides, all that give to this drive will be automatically eligible for all the different giveaways ....the one presently going on and the ones yet to come.image

Outhaul's donation/ auctioning of a Day of Sailing is simply too cool and frankly I am amazed that as of this moment no one has bid on it. image
  • ddbirdddbird Posts: 3,168 ✭✭✭
Id run it on the BST...more might have access on ebay but in order to avoid fees, time, and the possibility of a evil bidder, I think heres the place.
  • FairlanemanFairlaneman Posts: 10,426 ✭✭✭✭✭
    1. Yes. Putting the coins on Ebay takes away from the spirt and giving nature of the members here. The coins will do just fine here. Maybe even better than Ebay.

    2. Here or BST forum with individual coins being auctioned. Maybe Carol will stick it at the top this time.....image

    3. Yes and run it for 7 days.

    4. More coins are needed. I can find another coin if needed.

    5. Promotors are needed like I had for the Katrina Auctions. The two Dave's were great promotors....image

    Ken
  • As this is for such a good cause, I see no reason to post this in the B/S/T forum. If more coins are donated, then we might move the auction over there, just so long as the CF doesn't become cluttered with more than this thread.

I just asked SM1 about this and I seem to recall last year's auction being posted right here int this very Forum. Of course, I could be wrong. Regardless, we are still just trying to organize this auction just like last year's. We need exposure and support from everyone. SM1 will look into it and if, in fact , we are in the wriong forum I've asked him to move us to the appropriate one.

We need exposure and volunteers and for all to know what is going on along with the giveaways that all who donate to will be automatically entitled to...the present one and ones to come.
  • BoomBoom Posts: 10,165

There needs to be a place where people can come to pledge coins and place bids etc. For NOW, THIS is the place until SM1 or Carol

deems otherwise, so anyone wanting to donate coins for the auction this is the place. I want to donate some things as does LeeG and

several others, if you have anything you'd like to pledge for now, please do so HERE. Thank YOU SM1.image

Anyone wishing to donate coins for auction here just let me know We'll commence bidding in a few days while we try to amass a few items to add. To repeat, all those who has already donated money or coins to our Charity or does, your names will be added to the Master List. This will make you eligible for hiyosilver's giveaway for a Moose of PCGS certified Washington along with any and all future giveaways exclusive to donors only.

Send your contributions to quarterguy@bellsouth.net. As you put items up for auction please be sure to bring this to my attention so I can add your Names to the list. If you want to post the pix of what you are adding to the auction, by all means please do. If you have any questions or want to send the items here, again PM me or drop me a line at that same email address so I can give you my mailing address.

This is truly fantastic and I wish to thank each and every one of you. When I pick out some items to include I will need someone's email address so they can host my pix for me. I don't know how to post anything but the small ones. imageimage

Actually, the bidding may commence at any time as more items will constantly be added. The Million Dollar Question would be, "When does bidding end?"

Since we do not yet have some of the items that were pledged and more still to come, I am open for suggestion. LeeG, Fairlaneman or anyone else (Jabba etc) can handle this if they feel up to it. image

  • I'll go $30.00 on LOT #4

To those that are bidding on a particular item, please specify which item you're choosing to place a bid.

Here are a couple of offerings. Bid on each individually, this is NOT one single lot! The pics speak for themselves:

    ITEM #5a:
    image

    ITEM #5b:
    image

I also am donating the following books:

    ITEM #5c:
"The Complete Guide to Certified Barber Coinage", David & John Feigenbaum, c.1999 AS NEW

    ITEM #5d:
"Adventures With Rare Coins", Q.D. Bowers, c.1980 (3rd printing), EX condition.

I will cover postage for all of the above.

    ITEM #6:
Up for auction, in support of the Boom Foundation, is a one-day sailing experience on the SV Lazybones, hailing port East Greenwich, RI.

The winner of this auction will be responsible for their own transportation to and from East Greenwich Yacht Club in RI and for their own accommodations should they decide to stay the night.

What the winner DOES get is:

An afternoon of sailing on Narraganset Bay for two people
    Light lunch
    Beverages

The value of a private four-hour charter of this type would be in the neighborhood of $500.00.

THE RULES: This offer will be for the upcoming, 2006 sailing season which begins in June. I will, to the best of my weather forecasting ability, offer five different days for the winner to choose from. There is no guarantee of wind or weather, however, this will not keep the boat from leaving the mooring on the day chosen. The boat pictured below is the boat you will be sailing on. It is a Nonsuch 30 Classic built by Hinterhoeller Yachts of St. Catherines, Ontario. It is fully equipped and carries a current USCG Safety Certificate. This sailing charter is totally separate from the other auctions.

    image

Okay...Here are the open sailing dates:

MAY: Monday 22 thru Thursday 25

    JUN: Monday 05 thru Thursday 08 & Monday 19 thru Thursday 22

    JUL: Monday 17 & Tuesday 18

AUG: Monday 21 thru Wednesday 23

SEP: There may be a couple of dates that open up in Sep. I don't usually schedule anything at this time because the weather is always iffy.

PLEASE PM ME IF YOU HAVE ANY QUESTIONS WITH REGARD TO THIS AUCTION.

    Cheers,

    Bob
