Breaking news from the Three Rivers Collection

1. I bought a new dime from Legend:

2. From the Cowher press conference, Big Ben has a bruise and is NOT RULED OUT FOR SUNDAY!
From the AP...
PITTSBURGH (AP) -- Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger has a hyperextended left knee and a bone bruise sustained during a game-winning field goal drive at the end of a 24-22 victory over San Diego on Monday night, but hasn't been ruled out of Sunday's game against Jacksonville.
The injury isn't as severe as it initially appeared to be -- immediately after the game, coach Bill Cowher said ``it looked bad.''

<< <i> That sure is purdy. But isn't it the wrong base metal? Huh? Oh, the coin. Who cares?! Big Ben will be okay!!!
They said the same thing about Vick on the day after. But he didn't play on Sunday.

New collectors, please educate yourself before spending money on coins; there are people who believe that using numismatic knowledge to rip the naïve is what this hobby is all about.

A/T 61
Not close. Guess again.
My son said that the coin looked like it had been painted.
63 was Ernie Holmes in the Glory Years™.
I do not remember an important Steeler ever wearing the number, 61.
<< <i>What are "Yankees"? Perhaps you can provide a link for me?
It's what Cubans call everyone here. Jankee go ome mang!

This is nicer than Ernie Holmes. I'm pretty sure it's not L.C. Greenwood nice (68), but it's somewhere in between them...

Edit: I did some research. The number "61" has been little used by the Steelers, and no one wore it during the Super Bowl years in the 70's.
<< <i>Ziggy, I am impressed. The coin's slab and Alan Faneca, current guard, share the same number.
If we go to 100-point grading, you might be able to crack this out and go for Lynn Swann!
[Edit to add: That would screw up my Jack Lambert set, though.]
Hope to see you at the F. U. N.
I bet Big Ben will be back in 2 weeks.....
And congrats on the football win, I was there at the game and it was a good one, if frustrating for a Chargers fan.

Not many. Most of the camera shots into the crowd showed as many yellow Steelers' Terrible Towels™ as Chargers' knock-off white towels. The Steelers fans seemed nearly as loud as the Chargers fans. In keeping with a Legend-themed thread, I would daresay that the Chargers are a wannabe contender.
Thanks for the props on the coin. For those who did not get the Alan Faneca (#66) reference, it's in a PCGS Proof-66 holder and nicer in person than in the photo (which is awfully attractive, too).
NGC Proof-63? Laura would not sell me a "widget", Barry. Shame on you.
Nice coin though, and I'm one of those Seated naysayers.

The reason I said 63 is I think there are some friction marks on the high points (right breast and thigh).
If you don't mind carrying it with you, please bring it to the meeting later this month.
Come on, Barry, I told my wife I was going to an MRI course at Penn. In light of the Longacre thread, if she reads your post, she is going to think it is another BS coin trip. (I'll bring it
I'm gonna have to give Legend's site a look-see......Hmmmmm-Haaaaa, double yoi!!
