I have this being held for me at this time and need to answer by tomorrow a.m.

I guess I should have added that it is holdered by NGC (incorrectly) as PF40. It is an EF40 S3.

Whats with the "chatter between the 8 and the 5 in the date........ Talk about a prime focal area???? I hope it's just image pixelation...... Bad place for a mark under the eagles breast, and is that some rim doinkage from 12 to 2 ??????? I know I'm appearing hyper-critical, but this is a big $$$$ coin, and these things must be considered

JimD viewed the coin for me and put in a good word for me at the show. He doesn't recall it having any problems.

That mark by the date looks like a scuff on the plastic or something.

It looks fine Longtimecollector. Its XF-40 and not Mint State.

I like it, and it looks like you "need a circ. S3 problem free 1856 FE cent." Nice and original.

Wow. Nice coin. I'd call it a high-end VF.

Edit to add: I can see I'm a little lower on the grade than NGC but
    EF-40 works for me too.

I'll admit I'm not familiar with this series but it does indeed have a nice handsome "Look" to it.

The pictures don't do anything for me, I would pass, if I had to go by these pics and the price wasn't outstanding.

    Any better pics?

I agree with dorkkarl---Looks dull and dark. Not very attractive IMHO.

I'm familiar enough with the series to know this is a "heavy" coin.

Looks like a nice original piece and correctly graded at XF40 and an S3 to boot. The next question would be is it priced fairly?
