Opinions Sought On This Bay Bridge

Here is the other Commemorative I got today. It's in a NGC MS64 holder.
There is hardly a mark on this coin save for few very small and light scrapes.
Crack it out for a re-grade? Dip it? Have my head examined? Thank you.

I think that it has the same kind if dullness that the Grant has. It doesn't look like 65 luster. I don't think you should dip it, either, for the same reason as the Grant.

Both coins actually have fairly decent luster considering the degree of toning.
When I image my slabbed coins, I lose the luster when trying to eliminate
the glare that the plastic produces when shooting with natural light.

If the mark I think I see on the bear's head is there--then I don't think you will get it to grade higher.

I saw that too when I looked at the images, but it's not a mark on the bear.

    Bill:

I've seen coins like these that look very respectable by ordinary standards, however with commems, it seems that just the slightest flaw throws them into 64/63 range. Those tiny little nicks are just the thing that potentially throws one of these coins into that range sometimes. Add to that the fact that the toning is kinda typical, and it seems as though you have a fairly graded coin in 64. Just one collector's opinion image

A dip might help the eye appeal but you never know what you'll uncover when you dip it.

it's a remarkably original coin & should not be messed with. the grade seems perfectly suitable, too.

I like it, and the grade is probably accurate.

I like it the way it is...........I also agree that I think 64 will be it for max grade. And like others have said on this and on the Grant....No Dip!!!!

    I agree with Dorkkarl.
The trouble is, if that coin is dipped, and comes out a flashy, lustrous white, the services would possibly 5 the coin (would really have to look in person to tell for sure), which is a shame, considering the pleasing, "natural" look that particular coin has.

I don't think a "quick dip" will help this coin too much. To remove the degree of toning this coin has will require numerous dips or a prolonged one; which may drain it of too much luster. A "quick dip" will leave the coin with brown streaks, IMHO.

I have a Vancouver which was dull and brown until I quick dipped it. It now has tobacco spit streaks much uglier than if I had left the coin alone.

I personally don't think the toning is that awful. It has some nice lavender or pink hues from your picture I find attractive.

Nice coin but a Bay Bridge does not merit crackout attempts. Save your money for coins with greater value jumps between grades.

If the coin is basically mark free, then the only thing holding it back is its' eye appeal - and I don't think dipping it will change the appeal.
